Indian Update
Here's a little OTL update on the 2 Indian players signed by Pittsburgh. Hit 91 on the radar and actually look to have potential. This was brought up on BCB originally as an insult to the Pirates, but it looks like they might be tapping a new scouting market.

The Pirates had absolutely nothing to lose by signing these guys.
Good for them for doing it.

MLB claims baseball is a world game, but you have to do things like this to foster that reality. I hope that these folks do well and attract a 1 billion population market to the game. Think of how many Asian-Indians in Chicago are Cubs fans already?! Anything to spread the intercultural gospel of America. – TL
[In 2008] Kila Ka’aihue had the best on-base percentage of any hitter in the minor leagues. - Joe Posnanski, 11/9/2008 ... Ergo, let's give him a shot at first base in KC in 2009.

There are athletes everywhere
Just takes time and seasoning. As baseball spreads and more kids start playing it at a young age, I think things like this will become much more common.

That title couldve been taken so many different ways
ha….i caught the end of that piece, it was pretty funny to watch them try and throw at first, still using a javelin style
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

I don't know
PIttsburgh has been widely ridiculed within the baseball fraternity for these signings. Neither prospect is thought of in any significant regard by anybody else besides the Pittsburgh scout who inked them.
More of a curiousity story than unearthing of talent I suspect.

I'm sure someone said the same thing about Masanori Murakami. And for a while they were right.
Then Nomo came along some 30 years later and opend the floodgates.
