Merry Christmas!

Here's to a World Series in 2009!

For your Christmas present today, Comcast Sportsnet is rebroadcasting the September 18 game against the Brewers, where Geovany Soto hit a game-tying three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth and the Cubs won in 12. Broadcast time: 2:30 pm CST. Merry Christmas!

Great picture, Al

And September 18th… that be my birthday! Too bad CSN Chicago doesn’t broadcast over here in England.

Happy Hanukah to all, and to all a good night!

Sweet!

That beats watching “A Christmas Story” twelve more times today.

Someday we'll go all the way...

Thanks for the heads up, Al.

Happy Holidays, y’all.

Yes, yes ... winter is indeed a pond upon which all of us must skate, braving frostbite and runny noses in the hopes that our cars will start and we shan't embarass ourselves slipping on a patch of black ice. Spring is more a quagmire of cold mud and slush, and fall is a pile of fallen leaves that may or may not hide a pile of doggy doo-doo. But summer, ah summer is an oasis of endless green that disappears all too quickly beneath our feet as we rush through its warm, glorious bliss.

By the way

I saw where on June 23rd, the Cubs will be in Detroit. I thought for sure that they would request a home game to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the “Sandberg Game!” Any idea if they have something special lined up?
I can’t imagine they would not do something really cool. The only thing worse than not having the Cubs at home on that day would be staying in Detroit.

Merry Christmas to AL & ALL in Cubdom!

The Cubs haven't announced any promotions yet.

And, their schedule isn’t usually subject to any “anniversaries”.

But I would guess that they will have some promotions involving the 1984 team. At least, I’d think they should.

if they do...

if they do recognize the Sandberg Game I imagine they’ll pick the closest FOX telecast to that date at Wrigley Field and recognize it then. Too bad Saturday baseball isn’t as big as it was back in 1984 (aka, “game of the world”) because EVERYBODY was watching. Same goes to the World Series TV ratings that steadily decline year after year. You’d think that’s a hint hint to FOX or any baseball network to show more game in less time instead of “this game is sponsored by.”

Merry Christmas

Spending a few minutes online and not wanting to look at the pile of wrapping paper that needs to be cleaned up after we come back from mass and before we have some family over. Turkey is in the oven and such,

Merry Christmas, good will to all Santa please remember the Cubs come next fall!

That's a cool picture...

Any information on who did that? It looks like pastels to my untrained eyes.

Not sure who the artist is.

It’s a Christmas card I got a couple of years ago and recently found.

Cubs Classic blacked out..!

How in the world can this be blacked out here in the SF Bay Area…..? Coal to MLB if this is their doing.

Random note to Al:

My family got a holiday card from Selig and his family, and the quote on the inside of the card is the Hornsby quote you always had up on the side bar (about sitting and waiting for Spring). Looks like Al and Selig have more in common than we ever thought…

Love to.

Not much chance of that, probably.

I was there for this!

I also ran into Al after the game was done. I think it took me nearly a week or so to recover from how hoarse I was. I ended up missing this being rebroadcast, but oddly enough, I thought about it today when my fiancee presented me with a W flag for a Christmas gift.

Hmmm

Checked my Comcast guide, and there’s a White Sox 2008 Rewind…Did you mean 12:30 AM?

by Craig in South Bend on Dec 26, 2008 9:14 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

According to ...

this, there’s a Cubs 2008 Rewind at 12:30 Central time today (Friday), but I don’t think it’s this game … it’s a one hour show.

i was there!

I was at that game. However, Cubs re-wind was aired at 7pm that night and they didn’t even briefly mention that game because the big Z no-hitter and the clinch game overshadowed the September 18th game. I’m suprized CSN didn’t re-air the May 30th game. Too bad WGN didn’t re-air a game as well.

Buster Olney said a few days ago that the Braves would entertain offers for their 26 year old shortstop (who makes 450k) Yunel Escobar. He is a plus bat, a solid defender, and would move Theriot to his more appropriate position at second.

They are looking for a bat in return. Apparently Cox doesn't like the guy.

I couldn't even speculate what we'd have to send them in return, but I think he would be a good fit given his low salary, his productive bat, his position, and his age. I don't care if he's a jerk if he makes the team win more.

What would it take?
