Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

This Is A Joke, Right?

A Dominican newspaper says Sammy Sosa is "still waiting for an offer to play in the major leagues".

I think he's delusional if he thinks someone's going to make him an offer at age 40, after not playing for a full season.

I would agree with that.

I doubt he could hack it in a Mexican league.

No joke; Sammy's seriously delusional.

But, hey, if Bernie Williams is playing in Puerto Rico looking to get in shape to play in the World Baseball Classic, who’s going to tell Sammy not to raise his expectations so much?

Maybe a "No strings attached"...

For the Cubs? No way.

I wasn’t suggesting that, either. Just passing along this info.

No, I meant some MLB team

I seriously doubt it’ll happen — especially with the glut of free agent OF’s

Sosa was never linked, "officially",...

…to steroids. What do you guys and gals think? Should his numbers be tainted like McGuire’s? or does he deserve more of a pass seeing how he’s never been named in any report? I’m curious to hear some real baseball people reflect on this.

Good question.

Assuming he doesn’t play again, we’ll find out in four years.

I think youre dilusional..

.. if you think no one would at least kick the tires on him.

For a minor league/invite to ST contract. A Rays/Royals team would at least consider it.

Sammy proved in 07 that he could take a year off and be at least a adequate DH.

Don’t knock the man just because you didn’t like him when he was here. If that’s what it is..

Especially..

..if he lights it up in the WBC against some MLB pitching.

Who says I didn't like him?

He’s another year away from having played and is 40 years old. I think he’s done.

The Rays?

You think a team just off a world series appearance with lots of good young talent is going to want a selfish egomanical Sosa and his boombox anywhere near Rays camp? And if Sosa were an adequate DH in ‘07 a very mediocre Rangers team wouldn’t have hid him at the end of the bench.

21 HR and 92 RBI..

…in 114 games seems “adequate” to me — especially considering he didn’t play the year before. If I recall correctly, the Rangers benched him because they were out of contention at that point of the season and they wanted to give their kids some big league AB’s

yup...

… and available to pretty much any team via trade. No one wanted him.

DH

He wouldnt be able to play the field, but I bet my bottom dollar that he can still hit. The Rays, Rangers, Mariners, A’s, and any other team that needs a bat who sits on the bench when the rest of the team does the defensive dirty work could use him. No one will put up with the ego, but I am almost certain that he can still hit.

Sammy Sosa will play major league baseball again as soon as this guy will...

GOTTA AGREE......

Sammy won’t be seen anytime soon in the states ….He’s 40 and has the good life where he’s at . If he’s in the states in will be in 4 years …..
