A great old Cubs picture
I posted this link in today's Name that Cub post but it's worth a separate fanshot. This is a great old picture of the Cubs from 1962. Be sure to click on the link for the larger image.

Love it!
The one thing that really sands out for me is when they actually all wore stirrups and at the same height. I can’t stomach the sloppy, baggy look that most of the players have today in regards to their pants. I wish MLB would create a stirrup clause. Baseball unis are the coolest in sports (after hockey). I miss the old days…

1962
What a bummer year, though. 103 losses & the new Houston Colt .45’s beat us out for 8th place. Only bright spot was Ken Hubbs setting a fielding record. However, it led to my first real joyful Cub season, 1963 when for the first time since 1946, they actually won more than they lost !

Wow, that is a cool picture.
Yes, yes ... winter is indeed a pond upon which all of us must skate, braving frostbite and runny noses in the hopes that our cars will start and we shan't embarass ourselves slipping on a patch of black ice. Spring is more a quagmire of cold mud and slush, and fall is a pile of fallen leaves that may or may not hide a pile of doggy doo-doo. But summer, ah summer is an oasis of endless green that disappears all too quickly beneath our feet as we rush through its warm, glorious bliss.

Nice pic. Banks and Williams look like
a couple of old guys sitting in front of the barbershop telling lies!
