Just a tad OT: Padres say Prior could be ready by May...

Hmm. Seems Senor(ita) Prior has magically managed to shrink his timetable. This could be a couple things: The Padres could be simply overestimating the rate of recovery for Prior, or Prior himself could possibly not have been as hurt as he'd been letting on. Personally I think it's the former, but if Prior actually was dragging his heals on his injury simply to spite the Cubs last year, I'd be somewhat peeved.
But, all in all, I'm rooting for him to be pitching by May. Perhaps I've decided to take the high road, wish Mark all the best at his new job, etc.....nahhhhh. My real reason? San Diego visits Wrigley May 12th-15th. How sweet would it be for Prior to make his first start for the Padres at Wrigley, only to be booed by the fans and shelled by the lineup?
OOOH, or better yet, DLee could charge the mound. Just tell him it's Chris Young pitching.

I think
Yes, read the entire article.
"I would hope we wouldn't try to expedite things," Boggs says. "As far as I'm concerned, we didn't want to be in a position where he'd be rushed into duty."
Prior, 27, missed all of last season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder April 24. He could be major-league ready by mid to late May, according to the timetable outlined by his surgeon, Dr. James Andrews.
"To do it before that starts to cross boundaries of being prudent," Boggs said. "I'd like to see him by the end of May, June 1. I don't want to see it before then. Then I think you're trying to hurry something that shouldn't be hurried.
Isn't that what we used to hear from the Cubs? He'll be ready in May. No, June. No, August. No, next year.
This article borders on nonsense. I don't expect Prior to pitch until August 2008, if at all this year.
Maybe they meant
Maybe they meant...
Prior is doomed
I see Prior lasting at most 2.3 innings, and his best pitch will be serving up 78 mph powder puff towel balls.

Speaking of ex-Cubs...
Is Dusty...
I think we all know by now...
The problem with this method is:
- Dusty is not the keenest evaluator of baseball talent.
- His favorite sons continue to get older, thus lowering their value further.
Well...
Figured that would be obvious.
I don't think Macias...
And then you'd have to explain to me why you think the Pirates would be willing to trade him within the division.
(Okay, now seriously: Macias is on a minor league deal with a NRI. So, when the Pirates cut him out of camp - how long until the Reds sign him? We could even start a pool on this.)
I'll take three seconds.
Awww, man.
and I bet he already thinks
Dusty needs
Maybe...
I'm going to save a lot of posters some time
- Mark Prior is more evil than Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, and Dusty Baker combined. If Dante were alive today, Mark Prior and his dad would replace Judas and Brutus in the mouth of the devil, being chewed on for eternity. And if I was able to read that account and meditate on it and nothing else for an entire day, my anger against the Evil Priors would still not be sated.
- Mark Prior will never pitch again, and if ever it appears that he is pitching, it will be a San Diego conspiracy, where some unknown Australian pitcher was surgically altered to look like Prior, with calf and thigh implants and facial reconstruction.
- If by some Faustian deal, Prior was able to pitch in a T-Ball league somewhere, even I, my 6-month-old, and Ryan Theriot would hit Grand Slams on the first three plate appearances in the game.
You forgot one thing
Mark Prior made me forget; it's his fault
4. The Employee should be sued for stealing company property. After all, he forced Jim Hendry to throw billions and billions of dollars down the toilet that was his rehabbing arm. And he didn't even write a thank you note! The Employee should try to be more like Kerry Wood and dye his hair blond and grow a goatee.

If they try him in May....
I hope the Cubs face him
Thanks for posting my material.
Shamu will develop a split-finger fast ball before the SDHS grad ever throws a pitch in anger.
How about that?

well, ive written this before
Prior had a different surgery but simmliar in severity. Doubt hes anywhere near Wrigley May 12.
BTW, I made the college team for 1 DAY!!!! I was in so much pain throwing but it didnt matter I wanted on that team, then couldnt lift by arm for a while, and eventually it busted good in a softball league. I maxed out at 86 MPH and averged 81. I was an outfielder but asked the coach what he wanted and he said LHP, which I almost was, well the lefty part. 1 of 3 people to make the team and had to bow out right after that
Which sucked
Therefore, I stand by my 1-31
