Cubs Club 2008

I haven't seen a diary regarding The Cubs Club yet for this year, so I thought I would bring it up. What did everyone think of it? Did you find it to be a good deal? Are you going to join again this year?

I did join it last year and was happy with it. I really enjoyed listening on GameDay Audio to the games I couldn't watch. I figured why not spend the extra four bucks and get the nifty card and e mails too. There were some good ticket offers throughout the season and cooler wallpapers etc. I thought maybe they would be promoting it more seeing as the season is growing nearer, but I had to search fot it under fan forum on Cubs.com. I think I will probably join again this year.

It doesn't appear...
... that you can sign up for 2008 yet.

The link is here, for future reference.

think it'll happen
before spring training is over?  If I can get the gameday stuff PLUS otehr things for only $5 more than gameday audio, it might be worth it.

I didn't join unitl
probably the end of April start of May last year. I can't recall if GameDay Audio broadcasts spring training games or not. Does anyone know for sure? If it does, it's pretty crappy that I can't get it yet through the Cubs Club.

Yes...
... Gameday Audio DOES have ST broadcasts. Surprising that Cubs Club wouldn't have had its act together in time for that.

Or, maybe NOT so surprising.

It was OK, nothing special. I did use one of the ticket offers to get half-price bleacher seats for one game, but usually the offers are very short notice and require that one has a lot of disposable income. As a college student, I most certainly do not.

I'll probably just get Gameday Audio this year.

I wouldn't do it again
I already had MLBTV so the gameday audio was pointless for me.

I was interested in the post-game press conferences.  Those were enjoyable to watch.  The problem was, they didn't add those until I think late August.

The page would definitly have to offer much more for my $20.

I think the main problem with the page was it wasn't built by Cubs fans, it was built by people at MLB.COM.

What about the CubCam?
Wasn't joining the Cubs Club the only way to get access to the CubCam?  I realize everyone had access to it in the offseason during the field renovation, but I thought it was limited only to CubsClub members during the season.  To me, that would have been a good reason to join.

On the flip side, I thought the overall marketing of Cubs Club was very juvenile - I kept expecting to see a special decoder ring included in the list of benefits...

LOL
True on the marketing pitch. Compare it to a similar thing for the Red Sox, Red Sox Nation, which now has three tiers of membership and whose benefits seem both better and marketed more professionally.

if the cubs club
could turn into something like that without being as over the top (A president? honestly?) it would be cool.
