Hotel Advice

I'm going to be flying into Chicago for a game and need some advice.  I plan on landing in Chicago around 9 or so on the morning of the game I'll be attending, which gives me roughly three hours to get from the airport to the hotel to Wrigley (I'd like to arrive to Wrigley about an hour before gametime).  Now here's where I need help.  I'm not too picky about the hotel.  All I ask is that it's somewhat cheap (~150) and has a bar/restaurant in it.  I don't care if it's near O'Hare, or if it's in the city.  As long as it fits those two criteria, well, and isn't a dump, as well as fits into the time requirements (has to be near an El stop), I'm fine with it.

With all that said, there are about 5 billion hotels in Chicago and while looking for a good one I quickly become overwhelmed.  Can anyone help me out and recommend a hotel or three?  Again, I'm open to something near O'Hare, something near Wrigley, or even something that will have me flying into Midway and then hopping the El towards somewhere decent.  Thanks in advance!

My advice?
Go to Hotwire.com, pull up the Loop and go for the highest star you can at the price.  If you visit Better Bidding at http://www.betterbidding.com you can have a realistic idea of what hotel you are probably getting.  And anything in the loop area should be within easy El access.

The Ohare Hilton
Is a great hotel and since its basically on the airport property you should find it easy to get checked in and out of.

Also have you though about landing at Midway? There are several hotels around Midway that offer free shuttle service to and from Midway.

O'Hare Hilton is nice,
O'Hare Regency is also nice, and, if you want to stay downtown, check out the Hotel Burnham.

The Holiday Inn
on Cumberland (the "OJ" Hotel) is also an option.  Its right next to the Cumberland Blue Line Stop.  It only recently became a Holiday Inn so they really need business and I expect that they would be willing to deal if you called them directly.  And it was heavily renovated and bears no relationship to the Hotel that OJ stayed in.

City Suites
on W. Belmont is a good, clean place to stay, only a few blocks south of the park.  No resturant or bar in the hotel, but plenty of great ones around it.

Best Western Hawthorne Terrace Hotel
On Al's recommendation we stayed at the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace Hotel last season.  It is only a few blocks from the ballpark.  It was fairly reasonable as I recall.  I don't know about the bar/restaurant but there would be tons of options nearby.  http://www.hawthorneterrace.com/

Best Western
I used to live 3 blocks south of the Best Western.  A great neighborhood with lots of restauants and bars plus an easy walk to Wrigley.

There are two other hotels...
... not far from Wrigley Field:

Inn at Lincoln Park, 601 W. Diversey, and Days Inn Lincoln Park, 644 W. Diversey, both about a mile from Wrigley Field, an easy walk or bus ride. These are modestly-appointed hotels, reasonable prices, I have known people who have stayed at both while going to games and they told me while the rooms were small, it was clean and safe and a good value.

Same for Hawthorne Terrace, mentioned above, which is closer to Wrigley.

FWIW...
... none of the small "boutique" hotels have bars in them. But there are plenty of watering holes within easy walking distance of all of them.

Belden Stratford
Try the Belden Stratford.  Right in the Heart of Lincoln Park.

Priceline!
The Hyatt Regency O'Hare located near the airport off the blue line el at the Rosemont station (if driving only like 2-3 miles from the airport). If you bid $55 for a 4 star hotel in the O-Hare zone you will get this hotel. I have stayed here approx. 4 times for this price and when I didnt get that I got the Westin across the street for same price (stayed there 2 times for this price). Both hotels are really nice and both contain resturants and bars. Highly recommended

Incidentally...
... what games were you planning on attending?

The 4/17 game against the Reds.
I'll probably be going up for others later in the year as well, but this is the one I'm asking for help with.

One more question, and forgive me if it's been addressed but I didn't see it if so.  If it feasible for me to land in Chicago around 9, and make it from the airport to a hotel downtown, then to the game by noon?  I don't care if I only have time to check in, drop my stuff off and then leave immediately afterwards.  I don't, however, want to run any risk of being late to the game.  And I'd like to get there an hour early or so just to walk around the park.
