A new Cub signing!

Cubs Sign New Fan to Loooooong-term deal

Star-divide

Well, sorta.

It's an addition to the team, I guess you could say.

Mrs. FloridaCubbie informed me this morning that she was impregnated at some point recently. Likely last week when she went out with the girls and got so drunk she probably drank me pretty, and fumbled her way through a gruesome 6.5 minute sexual encounter with me. Either way, she has a cub in the oven. Our first. I am excited, I think. Still in shock, sort of...

Weird, we just had a thread recently about Cub-related names for children.

Anyhow, we'll see how this goes. Should be quite an experience. Not sure if I am looking for congratulations or support, but sometime come late November/early December she will be downloading a new Cub fan. Hopefully I will be able to buy it a "Chicago Cubs World Series Champions 2008" bib and some St. Louis Cardinal diapers.

The bigger issue at hand is ironing out whether offspring will be a Gator or Seminole.

"drank me pretty"...
...is a pretty hilarious turn of phrase. And that's a little TMI re: the conception. But congratulations to you and your wife! If it's a boy, please promise all of us that you won't name it "Brian" or "Robert."
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2008 Chicago Cubs starting outfield: Soriano-Pie-Fukudome. Let it be.

Friends
Friends of mine just had a baby girl named Kerry named after Mr. Wood.  They met at his first bowling event.

She already has arm problems.

If you read this please include my friend Heather and my friend's mom Karen in your prayers. If you want to hear more email me.

re: Friends
Isn't this joke a couple years late? Not a very nice way to talk about your (former?) husband...

Well
Brian Roberts was one name we were considering, especially if she conceived with our mailman, Mr. Roberts. (Who, by the way, holds the record at the Elks Lodge #893 for most hot wings eaten at one sitting - 113)

I figured if said offspring were named Brian Roberts, I would be banned from this site.

All joking aside, we were entertaining naming the child Wrigley, Clark, or Ryne (or some variation thereof) but have since decided we are going to sell naming rights to the child.

Oh yeah
No doubt. Perfect timing, if you ask me. Her best friend and drinkin' pal (well, if you count weekly wine gatherings as drinkin') found out 2 weeks ago she is infected also, so the two of them are tickled about it.

I'm perplexed
You timed it and the number of minutes has a decimal? Eeeesh, and all while a bit tipsy...wow!

by blackhawk24 on Mar 13, 2008 2:52 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

No no...
She had drank me pretty. I had been at the hunting camp all night playing cards, so I am pretty sure I hadn't drank a drop.

The decimal was necessary, as I average between 6 and 7 minutes.

She just called me and told me to stop lying on BCB, that it was 3 minutes, as I spent 3 and a half minutes making out with the bedpost.

Damn, I love that woman.

I had...
my wife convinced that Addison Clark would be a good name for one of our upcoming twins(if one's a boy)...my dad told her the signifigance of it and she quickly vetoed the Idea...As well as the name Alfonso Fukudome
I'm likely to start as many MLB games as Neifi Perez in '08

Addison
I have convinced my wife of Addison for a girl...Clark is a little harder for a boy.  I still have a few years before that comes about though...guess my wife doesn't drink enough.

by BigFuko on Mar 13, 2008 6:15 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Congrats
Six point five minutes, um. I rolled over in bed five times and had five kids. It took us years to figure out. Believe me it was no 6.5 minutes, much less.

Well
We actually like Addison Grace for a girl. No need jumping the gun though, we are going to kick it around. I will be sure to let everyone know prior to downloading the little rascal what we shall name it.

Names
I didn't even go there; it simply wasn't worth the argument.

On each occassion, my wife changed what she wanted to be our kids' name less than 24 hours before each kid was born. I did get the middle names choice though as a concession.

Plus my wife still has some puppet strings the MIL pulls. That's a separate challenge that has to be approached much differently. Luckily after many years of marriage, most of those are broken.

Congrats!
And make him a NOLE! We've got a similar history of baseball pedigree and are dying to cash in on the first college world series win.

BTW, my wife and I have got our own Cub/Nole on the way ourselves. Aiston Ryne Graham is due Memorial Day.

Once again, congrats!

Addison
Addison was one of the top baby names last year. Due in part to Addison, being a character on Greys Anatomy. I would guess that there are a variety of guys out there that liked that baby name and not because of the show LOL

Something in the water?!
Congrats Cribbs...you've got company:  1st born Cub fans-in-the-oven all around, apparently!  My wife and I are at the leading edge of the 2nd trimester.

I've spent the past month perfecting my deer-in-the-headlights look.  I hear that it gets used a lot.

We've got similar conflicts to work out in our household:  Boilermaker vs. Hoosier, and Catholic vs. Lutheran.  Discussions will no doubt rival those held with the Orioles for a certain second baseman...long and excruciating.

Re: Addison
I tried for Addison Grace for my 3 year old daughter and didn't win.  But I can live with Addison Jayne!  I won on the Addison part at least!

Thanks!
Neat insight. My wife actually proposed the name Addison Grace, so I was floored. She has given me free will to pick the boys name if it is in fact, male. She promptly shot down "Levi Garrett" this morning though. Tonight, I spring Luis Salazar on her.

Good to see I am in good company with Cub babies being prepped for downloading. Keep us posted!

For the record
Let it be known, I am the Seminole. Wife is the Gator. By default the kid will gravitate toward the Noles since he will be attending games with me as he grows older.

Hopefully. Otherwise, there is still a good black market for children, right?

Noles baby Noles
Unfortunately we just lost in the ACC game to the Heels but things will be different in baseball, and just in case the name confuses folks I'm a long time Tar Heels fan but after spending all that money to put 2 kids through FSU I have to wear the shirt and talk the talk on Noles game days.

Ugh
I was watching that game earlier at lunch and we pulled within 5. We were in major foul trouble early and could see the writing on the wall. Our baseball team is very strong this year, should be a good season if we can hold it together!
