SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- While Kosuke Fukudome travels to Tucson with the ballclub today, angry with himself for his .226 average so far and hoping to improve, Alfonso Soriano, Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee will stay behind in Mesa and get some extra AB's in minor league games.

Pitching rotation update: Paul Sullivan tells us that Ryan Dempster's bad day yesterday doesn't mean he's out of the rotation, but Bruce Miles says that it's time for Rich Hill to step up and pitch like he did a year ago, which he hasn't done so far this spring (7.04 spring ERA).

Hill will get his next chance this afternoon; he'll face the White Sox' Nick Masset. Masset pitched against the Cubs last May 20 at Wrigley Field and really got caught up in the intensity of the rivalry. The White Sox website says that their two new high-priced relievers, Octavio Dotel and Scott Linebrink, will also throw today. No such information on the Cubs website -- once again, a plea to you, Carrie: can we have this info?
