The new CBOE seats seem to occupy not only the old photographers' box but also the space where the tarp had been stored. (via lebailly)

Keep your eyes on the ball...

Wow, you better be heads up sitting in those seats.

Aisle 6 is near the bullpen mounds

If you have a three digit seats number (e.g. 101 and 102), you are on the left side of the aisle when facing the field. If you have one or two digit seat numbers (e.g. 9 and 10), you are on the right side of the aisle when facing the field.

I believe the closest aisle 6 comes to the new seats is where there is something white on the wall (between the bullpen mounds and where the bullpen plates would be).

I've put a red box around the Aisle 6 seats.

If you are in row 2, you should be one row from the wall. The Aisle 6 Row 2 seat closest to home plate would be around Seat 6. The Aisle 6 Row 2 seat furthest from home plate would be around Seat 106.

Note that with the aisle system, a block of seats changes from one aisle to the adjacent aisle in the middle of the row. So the person sitting two inches from you might be in a different aisle. The white objects just outside the lower left corner of the red box are actually in Aisle 7.

That really...

... decreases the amount of space in the LF bullpen, too, as well as foul territory on that side.

autograph seekers

..having the new section will also limit the area for autograph seekers along the LF wall. If the new CBOE seats are treated like the Bullpen Box seats on the RF wall, they won't let people in the area before the game. My kids were nearly "crushed" a few times in the area before. They'll just have to be a little more resourceful now.

Here's a dumb question

Where's the tarp gonna go now?

There is no place like Nebraska - Go Huskers!

by sanantonecub on Mar 17, 2008 7:34 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Good question.

Maybe on the 1B side? Or in between these seats and the dugout?

Great question

Arent there bullpen seats on the rightfield seats too?

by Keystone80435 on Mar 17, 2008 7:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes...

.... but those have been there for a couple of years, and they're sold on an individual game basis.

.

yea, but I meant the tarp. They cant put the tarp over there becuase the bullpen seats are down the right field line too.

Here's the Scoop

The tarp will be on the 1st base side infront of the Bullpen Box seats. It has a sponser so they don't want that in front of the CBOE seats. The CBOE logo will be on the wall in front of the 3rd base seats. It looks like the CBOE logo will be the same color (yellow) as the distance markers on the outfield wall.

That's going to make...

... the ground crew run much farther to put the tarp on the field. They usually run out from the LF corner.

New photo

This photo seems to confirm Chodes scoop and also shows what might be the new photographers' box just beyond the visitors' dugout.

I saw this earlier today when I was looking at the web cam

I thought about posting a picture but didn't. It's good to see someone did.

It looks as though...

...they are really pushing the envelope with these new seats. Not only will foul pop ups be an adventure for the SS and 3rd baseman, but the bullpen guys ain't going to be too happy about this.

Mark my words, you will see several comments from opposing players regarding how they don't like going after foul balls here.

This could also produce more of those "Fenway Park" type doubles that are hard ground balls inside the line, and they end up bouncing of that wall and deflecting into shallow left field.

I'll say this. You REALLY better be heads up in those new seats. Not only are you a prime target for a batted ball, you're also in the danger zone for those guys warming up in the pen. Not to mention Ramirez and othe players flying into those seats.
