Soriano - Broken Finger!

Alfonso Soriano suffered a non-displaced fracture of the middle finger of his right hand on Sunday. He is expected to miss 3-5 days.

Soriano suffered the injury while trying to catch a ball in practice

Doesn't seem to be too serious.  Let's this doesn't turn into something chronic.

It sure is cold in Chicago now.........

All we can do...
... is wait and see what this is all about. Doesn't SOUND too serious at this moment. But who knows.

Sure Pie is injured...
But the big question is:

Is it his throwing testicle?

I dunno
but Santo said he's "more erect in the box," so it's definitely not affecting his hitting...

Soriano
I wonder how they determined so rapidly that Soriano will only be out a few days.   I would think that they would fly him to Chicago to see the team orthopedic and get a full blown examination done.   After all it is only the first week of March and we are talking a $136 million franchise player.   I'd have every test known to man conducted on the finger just to make certain I knew the extent of the injury and what should be the proper rehab program.

How do you know they haven't done this?

But of course.
I should have known that a BCB reader, MDBNIU, would have more answers than the entire Cubs staff. How silly of me.

So I'm curious, Al: What were the results of your investigation into whether MDBNIU may actually be the Mike of Blueness? Sorry if I missed this somewhere...

Results inconclusive so far.
But I'm still investigating.

it's a pretty good call
that they have x-ray machines in Arizona.  Heck, they even got one of them new-fangled Em Ar Eye machines down at the saloon!
Worst to First in 2007, brought to you by Lou, Sori, A-Ram and D-Lee.

lmao.....my two cents on this..
..It's a relatively common break (from a baseball perspective) that O'Neal and team have seen many times.

An X-ray to rule out any problems, some tape with a splint and a little Advil and Sori should be fine.

I hope.

Let me get back to you, will ya, Charlie? I got a guy on the other line asking about some white walls.

Please say you're joking.....
... because really, that type of injury could be diagnosed right there in good old Mesa. Matter of fact, as I said in another thread, I had the same exact inury suffered the same exact way at Fantasy Camp at the end of January. And you know what? They didn't fly me anywhere (darn it) to diagnose it. And I played with it for two days before I even went to the trainer.

Fantasy Camp
If you suffered Pie's injury, I imagine that would be an entirely different type of fantasy camp...

by roscoevillage on Mar 2, 2008 11:41 PM CST up reply actions

LOL
And cost a lot more money. I can't imagine that being a fantasy, though.

I guess the one
benefit this happened early in camp, not the first week of April. If anything it gets Murton some more AB's. Hope Soriano is fine, and go from there.
How many people are there in Phoenix? Several million, I am sure they have a "finger" doctor.

Atleast he was catching the ball with two hands...
You can come back from a bad broken finger in 2 weeks.  This can't be anything to worry about.  In all honesty I think if this were nearing the playoffs and we were in a race he would play through it.

Ramirez and Soriano
Both hurting. Kind of like last year. Let's hope they get this stuff out of the way in spring training so we don't have to keep worrying.

He should heal up just fine....
...though I doubt he is going to be swinging against live pitching within 5 days.
