Reed Johnson
Here's our backup CF, and all he'll cost is money....
He can play center, hits lefties at over .300, and OBP over .370 against them. Ignore last year, as he was hurt for most of it. He also has two seasons of a total OBP over .350, and +100 OPS+'s. Which just happens to be the same amount of seasons that He Who Shall Not be Named has topped .350 OBP. He's better than Marlon Byrd, or Jay Payton, and probably even Coco Crisp. Do this now, and let's head North!

Probably a good idea
if what they're looking for is occasional relief for Pie. If Pie flops, though, I don't believe that Johnson is an everyday answer in CF. I think he'd be more than adequate on a part-time basis, especially in Wrigley.
Well
Johnson not being a good everday option might be a good thing. It might keep the team from pulling the plug on Pie too soon if he starts slow. I'd rather give Pie all the time he needs to succeed rather than give guys like Byrd all the time he needs to be mediocre. If the team isn't in a rush to start the backup CF'er then Pie would get more time to sink or swim.
