New Blog: The Boxing Bulletin for Boxing Fans!

Like Christmas (or Hanukkah, Al), my birthday and New Year's Eve all in one!

So I realize this might not be worthy of it's own FanPost, but there isn't a game thread yet, and I couldn't find a more approriate area... and frankly, I'm too amped up to know better.  But, I'm up here in Northeast Wisconsin and the weather kinda sucks, heard it sucks down there too... what are the local forecasters saying are the chances of getting the game in today?  Also, if it IS delayed, do you think they'd stick around and try getting it in tonight, or just say screw it and play it tomorrow?  Man, I hope not!  I've been listening to Go Cubs Go and WGN TV and Radio's clip of A-Ram beating the Brewers last year on repeat ALL MORNING!

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

I like your headline.

Opening Day should be a national holiday.

Whichever presidential candidate

decides to put that on their agenda... will gain one vote from this guy!

This is definately a good idea

for our next contract! Thing is in public safety that you can't have everyone off on a holiday. But, they can run minimum shift and pay double time to the poor folks that end up having to work. I should write myself a note now!

Without question

It should be a national holiday. I'm picking up the boys, 7, 6 and 4, from school at 11:00 a.m., per our usual routine, and we'll either watch the Cubs or raindrops....but its still Opening Day. I can even smell it.

I usually take the day off of work to watch on TV

Didn't this year because I can actually hear on the radio (even though it's the Brewers announcers), so I figured might as well get paid to listen to baseball!

Today I even woke up the kids by saying "happy Opening Day!!"

I woke up singing 'Go Cubs Go'

It is sickening.

The worst part about today is

that I really don't feel that great, probably bad enough I could stay home from work and not feel guilty, but no one would ever believe it wasn't the "blue flu". The hard part is going to be avoiding BCB and listening to it at work! I all ready set the DVR to record everything on WGN.

If someone comes in talking about it, I will be like Jimmy Fallon in Fever Pitch. The part when he misses the BoSox game to meet his girl friend's parents for dinner and another couple comes in talking about the game. He starts freaking out trying to cover his ears and sing a song so he doesn't hear the details.

Well

I am back from my massage, and I think she did too good of a job. Need to go to the throne for a bit, but the cooler is iced down, I am drinking my first bloody mary, and I am ready to rock and roll.

Annoying the kids!

I've been annoying both of my girls today by singing Go Cubs Go since last night when the Braves played. According to ritual they are both in their new cubs garb this morning. What really sucks is I was downsized a month ago and there is fierce compitition for jobs in my industry and I've got an interview today at 2:00 and it was unchangeable! I'll be worse than Jimmy Fallon if they get the game in!

Question- If the game is rained out and rescheduled for tomorrow is it wrong to send my 6 year old to school in the same clothes as today?

Not only is it OK

it's strongly advisable that you do!

I'd see if your kid wants to wear the same clothes. If he/she wants to go for it. But if the kid doesn't want to I won't make him/her.

But socially acceptable... I think so

Excited myself

It is a joyous day, and even though we are getting hit with 7 in of snow today in Minneapolis, the weather can't get me down!
