Thanks Sue

Hopefully this works, if not sadly, I'll have to find a new site for gameday's.

by lemon20pie on Mar 31, 2008 3:51 PM CDT   0 recs

No kidding

I can barely even load the website at all.

Try Yahoo Sports version of Gameday.

It's not as flashy, but it does the job.

I got both running

not a huge hit, even with GD up and the streaming audio. Hmmm...

I don't think the I.T. Guys took into account

how many Cub fans there are out there.

You guys did a great job

but like I feared, the gameday chat with all the avatars and traffic, would be slow.

by lemon20pie on Mar 31, 2008 3:59 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I don't think

it's the avatars. Once the avatar is downloaded to your system, it's cached.

I think it's the active refresh and the extra code to do that with.

It may be better to watch at the

opposing teams site, no offense we are just obsessive

Nope

Not any better at all. I think maybe we should try that MLB.com chat someond posted earlier.

don't leave just yet

we're working on it

I just had the site timeout for at least a minute

took me a good five minutes to get back in. We need another server -- maybe a cluster. :D

Comments are taking longer to post, too.

no question

then we definitely

rate more hardware... Because you get more page-views from us, so it's more ad revenue...

Is anyone NOT having issues?

I'm not, for once. I'm even using a weak wireless signal too. Is it mainly IE users having issues?

I was having issues on the other thread..not now..I am using FF

Looks like the AJAX framework wasn't able to take the load

by cubsnlinux on Mar 31, 2008 4:02 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

it's not terrible

but it's definitely lagging for me. Choppiness when a new post comes up, for example.

2008: The year we put it all together.

by drewishdrewid on Mar 31, 2008 4:02 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

maybe we need

Pages within a post. For example, after every 250 comments [or 100 or 300, whatever] a new comment page appears and we don't have so much data on one page. That's how LiveJournal does it, and it works well.

fwiw

when I dropped and had to come back in, things got a lot faster.

but now it's really slowing down again.

you lose

the ability to see all new posts by hitting Z then...

2008: The year we put it all together.

by drewishdrewid on Mar 31, 2008 4:10 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

on other pages, yes

But that's the price we pay to make everyone un-cranky.

It would still work on whatever page you're on, though. I would assume, at least.

MLB.TV is sucking for me..

I can't believe I'm paying money to use it...

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

by santoswoodenlegs on Mar 31, 2008 4:03 PM CDT   0 recs

Same here

Ever since a few minutes before the delay ended. Tried to switch from the Reds game, and blam.

Listening at http://www.660wbhr.com/streaming/listen-control.htm

Why does everybody stand up and sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" when they're already there? ~Larry Anderson

by JohnM on Mar 31, 2008 4:13 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I've been listening to that the whole time. It buffers every once in a while, but has been pretty stable

Not that I expect it to make it through the season. MLB's gonna find these guys, and shut the game broadcasts down.

2008: The year we put it all together.

by drewishdrewid on Mar 31, 2008 4:15 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Maybe if they spent that much energy, time and resources..

on making their broadcasting better, faster, bug-free, and more widely accessable...

nah..forget it...those ideas would never work.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

by sue369 on Mar 31, 2008 4:04 PM CDT   0 recs

Apparantly -

Fielder hit one to DeRo.
DeRo tagged him out in the batter's box. Yeah, Fielder is that slow.

Quick recap

Been tough to follow thread today at work. Has Theriot gotten the ball out of the infield, have Pie and Lee looked awful on their Ks and is Sheets really pitching well or are the boys not making good swings? Thanks.

theriot

lined out to hart in his first at bat, i believe.
haven't seen much soriano. lee didn't look horrible to me on his K.

My reply to yours took just a few seconds.

it's very variable.

sometimes I post in just a few seconds, sometimes it takes over a minute.

It's actually a blessing in disguise...

that it's been raining all day. His leg slid out a little easier, it could've been a pretty bad knee injury.

by WartburgCub on Mar 31, 2008 4:21 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Also

I see Sheets at 92 pitches. Is he done? Can we get to this bullpen next inning?

it's warming up.

as is the Cubs bullpen.

This new thread seems to help a little bit...

...but I think I'm going to take the rest of the game off. (It just took forever for the preview post to pop up again.) I have to leave work in about half an hour anyway.

hall doubles

just missed an HR.

2008: The year we put it all together.

by drewishdrewid on Mar 31, 2008 4:18 PM CDT   0 recs

It may also help

if, before we post a comment, we ask ourselves if it's really worthwhile to the dialog. For instance, if someone hits a HR we don't really need 16 "OMG YAY" comments. It's fun to see that many comments, but if it's ruining the fun for others we should scale back.
