Felix Pie - Twisted testicle

Ouch.  Perhaps overlooked in Soriano's fractured finger was this little tidbit [http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080302&content_id=2400416&vkey=spt2008news&fex t=.jsp&c_id=mlb]:  "Felix Pie missed a couple days with a twisted testicle."  Wouldn't you ask the trainer to make something up?

good lord
that does not sound pleasant.  sounds like my co-worker whose nuts hurt for a few days so he went to the doc.  doc tested for everything and told him he probably just sat on them.

The last sentence of that
just about made me fall out of my chair in laughter.

Testical
Do you think it matters if it's his right or left, based on his handedness at the plate? =)

I had this done.
Needless to say, VERY PAINFUL! I'm a 33 year old man.. Happened last year and I cried and couldn't move!
Can't wait for the Cubs in '08!!!

This happened to me when I was in junior high.
It was the most excruciating pain I have ever felt.  I had to be taken to the emergency room, and it had to be "untwisted" by a doctor.  I still have nightmares about this almost 20 years later.

Needless this to say
this is the funniest injury I've ever seen. I've never laughed so hard, than I did right now after reading Pie had a "twisted testicle".

How exactly do you twist your testicle?

Can't read the article....
without crossing my legs.  It's funny how us guys, in our never-ending effort to be as macho as we can, have everything right out in the open.  No euphemisms, no B.S., nothing.  Twisted testicle.  With Michael Barrett a couple of years ago, same thing.  We knew every sordid detail.  Women, on the other hand, have terms like "female problems".  Don't ask questions, that's all you need to know.  That mindset does exist in male sports.

Ouch! and an OT question
I'm not sure how you twist a testicle, but just the thought of it almost made mine reflexively retract to safety. And I agree with kidk that Pie should have asked the trainer to make up something to avoid embarrassment in the manner of the  old sports writers who used to cover for players laid low by a dose of the clap by saying they were suffering from malaria.

BTW, does anyone know how Cedeno looked in center yesterday?  I know he had a terrible day on the bases, but I haven't heard how he did in the field. Thanks!

The Venture Bros.
did a PSA about Testicular Torsion. I tried to find it on YouTube, but it's been removed. If you find the DVD, it's at the end of Season 1, Episode 9: Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean.

What's funny to me about this diary is...
...that I had been thinking, yesterday I believe, of starting a BCB diary on Pie's relatively good start to Spring Training.  Now that'll have to be amended with a sort "post-twisted-testes" clause. Yikes. - TL

Reminds of Barrett's injury
Which I think was just described as a major "groin" injury near the end of 2006 when he got plowed over and taken to
Northwestern hospital  A reporter asked Dusty if Barrett would be back either at all or soon ( I forget which) and he said no because " Michael just had his first child and I believe he wants to have more" Maybe not the exact words but close . It did crack me up.

This is by far the funniest thread ever
And it's a strange situation to have your legs crossed tightly in reaction to what must be god-awful and to be laughing your head off at the same time.

Ctcoff's post was my favorite, btw.

I had a slight
case of this last year. It doesn't sound like I should be complaining though.
