Minnie Minoso

Just curious....I heard on tv that Mr. White Sox was there at the Ernie Banks statue unveiling, but I didn't see him. Anyone see him?? I grew up on the south side and my dad used to drag me to sox games even tho i was a cub fan. This was probably around 1960 or 1961 and he had a great year if I remember right. He was a fun player to watch and he loved the game and the fans.

He was there

With Fergie and Billy, saw the three of them pose for a pic.

I couldn't find a photo...

I couldn't find a photo, but even Wikipedia was updated to include that he was there (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnie_Mi%C3%B1oso).

I met him a couple years ago at a free autograph signing he did at Brookfield Zoo for the White Sox. I didn't even originally intend to stop by, but the line wasn't terribly long so my mother and I waited for autographs before we went home. He was incredibly friendly and could talk about anything for hours, it seemed. He also didn't come across as reluctant to be there, as many of those autograph sessions are with other athletes. With all the negative publicity out there, it's always nice to meet one of the many geniunely good individuals in the game.

I don't think that is the Ernie statue...

it seems like that is US Cellular field with White Sox fans around. I was there and that is not Wrigley.

Calm down.

You are correct...

The picture is at the Cell (I believe its his own statue, although I'm not sure who all is out there in centerfield at US Cellular besides Apprecio Fisk, & Fox). The last line of the entry, though, is: "On March 31 2007, opening day for the Chicago Cubs he was in attendance for the unveiling of the Ernie Banks statue." Presumably the date is wrong, as everything else refers to yesterday.

I guess my post wasn't terribly clear.
