Off Day Fun: Worst MLB Uni's
We've all seen them. Some of us have purchased them. Fewer of us have liked them, but over the years, Major League Baseball has seen some putrid unforms. For example, there were the all-maroon Phillies uniforms:
via www.cnnsi.com
The White Sox shorts:
And Cubbie pajamas:
via mlb.imageg.net
So, for some off day fun, and since there's no game thread for pictures to slow down, what are the worst MLB uniforms you've ever seen?
(The Tampa Bay hologram disaster is too easy, BTW.)

Wow, those maroon things are awful.
But these are worse:

Those all-yellow uni's made Willie Stargell look like a giant canary.

Wow.
An all yellow uni AND a pillbox hat. That's nauseating. Poor Willie Stargell.

I miss those Pirate hats...

A "favorite" one of mine
Was from the Turn Forward The Clock day in 1999 where teams were encouraged to have futuristic uniforms. The Mets took it a step further and placed their team on Mercury. Here is their uniform...truly a classic bad uni

I remember that day.
The Mariners looked particularly bad. I was googling around for an image of that, when I came across this:

That must have been from the Futures game. Ugh.

These unis
are now more popular NOW. I am amazed. They are looked on now -- as so bad, they are cool.
You talk 9 out 10 Padres fans, they'd love to have these back. They are now considered as -- one-of-a-kind, and completely unique. Most Pads fans think the Brewers and Padres would exchange uniforms and nobody would be able to tell.
This popularity also includes the 1969 uniforms, and those dating back to 1984.

The unis are a tribute to Pittsburgh's late mayor. Also, red was in the color scheme of the Bucs uniforms back in the 40's. Give them a break on these.

Everytime I see those gray jerseys they look, like the Cubs are a part of some work release program, those blue softball jerseys they wear definetly have to go....I hate to say it but I really can't stand that walking bear logo that is on it, to me it makes it look like the jerseys are for 10 year old kids

OT: Construction worker's attempt to curse the Yankees unearthed
It was discovered on Friday that a Bronx construction worker tried to curse the Yankees last summer by entombing a David Ortiz Red Sox jersey in the concrete at the new Yankee Stadium.
A jackhammer crew worked for five hours on Saturday to locate the jersey, which was buried about two feet down.
NOTE: This was a replica jersey, not an authentic. DUH, you can't do this with a replica, bro!

Another camouflage uni
honoring a branch of the military.
San Diego has a vast military population. From what I understand, at every Sunday home game, an entire section is donated so that recruits can enjoy a game. During the middle of the one of early innings (4th?), they play one of the anthems of the Armed Forces and all the recruits stand at attention, as do the rest of the fans in great appreciation and gratitude.
Being a military brat, I can appreciate the Padres' efforts to honor these soldiers. They are the true heroes.

My vote
Worst current uniforms:
1. The Pirates' red jerseys
2. The Rockies' black sleeveless vests with black sleeves
3. The Padres' entire collection
4. The Royals' powder blue jerseys with white pants (all powder blue OK)
5. The Braves' Sunday red jerseys
My favorites (I'm a traditionalist):
1. Yankees' and Cubs' pinstripes
2. Dodgers' whites
3. Braves' whites

I kind of like those red Pirates jerseys and the Royals' blue top/white pant combo. Then again, if you saw my wardrobe, you wouldn't take my opinion serioiusly at all. And speaking of my opinions:
Worst current uniform: Tied between anythine the Padres wear and the Indians uniorm...just for that silly smiling Indian on the hat. The Reds have a pretty ugly home uniform as well.
Best non-Cubs current uniform: The A's have a pretty slick home uniform.

The sleeveless looks like a high school girls basketball jersey. Deleting the sleeves also eliminates the logical place to put all the patches. Then you have a fancy t-shirt needed to support the patches.
