Go Giants
Even though we all know St. Louis won’t be anywhere near the top in a month, I still hate seeing them there. Kinda itches a little, like a rash

What's encouraging me this year so far is...
that we’re able, for the most part, to beat the bad teams. Seemed like the few good Cub teams over the years would always lose to the terrible teams.

why is derrick lee
out of the game?
One day, the dream will come true.
Rest.
It seems that way anyway. Pat and Ron are not alarmed and Yahoo doesn’t say anything at all about it.

Gary, did you catch the embarrassment this morning?
I think Spurs are deffo looking forward to next season. You’d think with all of the cuts rumored that the boys would actually play well though to save their job.
"This is the kind of thing … that makes you want to see the Chicago Cubs team lose." Marty Brennaman
Yeah.
That was an ugly performance against a team in danger of relegation. Why is Ramos playing Keane so deep lately? He and Berbs work too well together for that. Ramos seems to favor Lennon, because of his disruptive speed, but he is a poor crosser (though he crossed nicely to Berbs for the score today) and doesn’t seem to have the chemistry with Berbs that Keano has.
I’m chalking it up to anti-Irish bias.
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
Anti-Irish
Loss could have something to do with the wearing of my Cavan County Gaelic football jersey today. Just sayin.
I agree, I don’t get dropping Robbie like that. He’s too “scrappy” around goal to do that (to use a term from this site). My patience for Lennon is running thin as well. What’s the right Cubs parallel for him? Corey Patterson?
"This is the kind of thing … that makes you want to see the Chicago Cubs team lose." Marty Brennaman
Maybe Lennon would be more like Pie.
Jenas is Corey. He’s such a frustrating player.
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
Agreed.
Would be great if we came out next fall with:
New GK
Hutton
Daws
Woody
Bale
RW: New
Hudd
New CM with some creativity
LW: Jenas/Steed/New (Getting Jenas out of the middle might help him)
Berbs
Keane
O’Hara
Kaboul/New CB
Bent
Steed/Jenas
Cerny
"This is the kind of thing … that makes you want to see the Chicago Cubs team lose." Marty Brennaman
Yeah.
Valencia is playing Getafe on Telemundo. Villa just had an incredible run on goal, but stopped by an equally incredible save by Getafe’s keeper. He’d look good flying around The Lane…

"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
Not the worst thing in the world.
I think he has potential, and I like how he seems to be really committed to the team.
I wish he could tell himself “I’m 23, I’m 23, I’m 23” and not expect to be first choice just yet.
"This is the kind of thing … that makes you want to see the Chicago Cubs team lose." Marty Brennaman
Too cocky for my taste.
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
Also,
Scott Carson, the keeper for Aston Villa is on loan from Liverpool, but no likely to get a full-time gig there. Perhaps he should be a target. He’s a good young keeper.
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
Would like it.
Robbo’s gotta go though. Confidence shot, giving up too many rebounds.
"This is the kind of thing … that makes you want to see the Chicago Cubs team lose." Marty Brennaman
Yeah.
Totally agree. Robbo’s been Spurs for a while now, but he’s hurting this team. Third in the PL in scoring, but giving up way to many on the back end. Spurs can’t seem to play with the advantage.
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
Having Woodgate
and Chimbonda (who’s definitely outta here. What a disappointing transfer) missing didn’t help anything. If Jenas had taken a moment to set himself instead of blasting the ball off-balanced, Spurs might’ve taken all three points.

patience
I am thrilled that the 2008 version of the Cubs seems to really be working counts and grinding out big pitch counts on the opposition. This is great to see!!
It seems like Lou has finally got this team away from the bad ways of Dusty-ball.
This is our century!
Dusty
would be furious at the clogging this inning
"Awakened by the clatter, the startled (Hack) Wilson, thinking the ball had been hit, jumped up, tore after the ball, scooped it up, and threw a perfect throw to second base. Gales of laughter erupted in the stands.
Dusty would
have gone through quite a few toothpicks this inning. Possibly would have argued with the ump for allowing all these walks

They have a nice stadium, and live in a nice city. Maybe their uniforms are so ugly it somehow has an effect on their performance?

I stay across the river in downtown near the Theater District. It’s nice. Sometimes I visit Carnegie Mellon on business … it seems nice there also. What’s so bad about it?
It has it's areas that are nice...
The area around the park is nice. I guess I’m just comparing it to Chicago and it’s not even close.
I will agree that PNC Park is great.

Seriously, if this isn’t the type of game to get your guys some confidence, what is?
I think we all realize Murton’s not going to be an everyday player for this team. I understand the “why call Matty up if you’re not going to play him,” but come on. It was Pie time there.
Reed is hot though.

that's garbage...
back in the day, that was widely accepted and expected. It would be one thing if he hit him, but a little chin music (or back of the head music) is necessary from time to time

Santo thinks so, too.

If Cedeno continues to hit...is he good for trade bait...
or do y’all think he should replace a regular (Theriot?)
Both
might be possibilities

Yes.
Should’ve replaced Theriot long ago.

If I were the Pirates...
I’d just forfeit the remaining 13 games vs. the Cubs this year. It’s getting nuts.

Cubs Win!
Oh Baby! Cubs Win!
I love the 10 walks by Cubs hitter vs. 4 Ks that is always good to see
Cubs Win! Cubs Win!
false.
Obviously it’s Theriot. Every time he DOESN’T go 0-for-4 with 2 scrappy K’s, he gets the POTG and interviewed.

Lou's press conferences are funny....
he seems lost for words most time….lots of long drawn out breaths…licks the inside of his mouth….deep exhalations…...words drip out…...
haha, agree
He always seems drunk and disoriented. But last year when they clinched and they interviewed him in the clubhouse, buzzed, he was actually more coherent!

feeling good about the Cubs…..now if Lilly can just bulldog up we will be ready to roll….Ronnie Woo Woo almost drowned out Lou in the presser….

hitting them at a .270/.317/.488/.805 clip for his career, but he was awful for the Cubs.

Happy Passover Jason
He can now go have a nice Seder dinner. Seriously as far as I can tell
he is the only one of the dozen or so Jewish players who is at least
moderately observant.
Al ( and Howard as you are lurking somewhere) have a nice Seder too.
Being a very bad Jew I will probably be going out for Indian food tonight.

is also very observant.
