Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

"Guzen Dazo" made headline over Dome's homer

Dome's heroic homer in the botton of 9th surely made headline in the newspaper and morning news show here in Japan.

He said he just wanted win in his post-game interview, also said watching his new baby via webcam everynight gave him good power.

However, many of morning news put "Guzen Dazo" as the headline and put Dome's heroic debut in  the subhead....

Star-divide

Chicago-born commentator Dave Spector gave us the correct, reasonable translation of "It's gonna happen" and it's very same with mine...

Tokudane2_medium

So use this one, maybe just the first line, and add second line if you want to see miracles at Wrigley.

Itsgonnahappen_medium

It reads

Nanika Ga Okoru!

Wrigley Gekijo

Gekijo means theater as we saw too many miracles in Kawasaki Stadium where Leon Lee, father of Derrek, played in great games, so I respected it to reuse this famous expression in Japanese baseball.

So please never use the wrong, ridiculous translation "Guzen Dazo" at Wrigley - that would eclipse any great play and heroic, even miracles on the field if the sign is televized here in Japan....

Re: Cubs paraphernalia

Not sure, but still not comparable against NYY or BOS because of Japanese star players played until last year.
Hope many will have Cubs ones after World Series 2008.

Thank you for clarifying!

Somehow I don't think this will be the only time you'll need to do so. At least the fans' hearts were in the right place. Language barrier aside, I was really pleased with the reception Dome received.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2008 Chicago Cubs starting outfield: Soriano-Pie-Fukudome. Let it be.

very, very nice

I see they even corrected one of the fans' symbols on a sign.

It won't be long until there's lots of footage with the natives' call and the only thing I may understand other than his name is the guy he gets the hit off of, like "Gagne".
