Monday's Game on WCIU - will it be blocked from ESPN

Last year everytime the game was on WICU I never got it and even when it was on ESPN also it was blocked.  Does anyone know if this game will be blocked from ESPN tomorrow night?  I guess if it was scheduled to be on ESPN prior to the start of the season it will be on.  I think last year it was blocked after it was added to ESPN later.  No one probably knows until game time, but just looking for some information ahead of time.

I hope not.

When the Bulls are on WICU and a national station they weren’t blocked but I don’t know about baseball games.

For me, it will be one of the few times it is

good to be a Cubs fan away from the Chicago viewing area. All these Reds and Fox blackout here in Nashville are making me wonder why I pay the money for MLB EI sometimes…

Do you mean WCIU?

In Chicago? I’m aware there’s a WICU in Erie, PA. that does Indian’s games. If it’s WCIU, the game should be on here in Chicagoland and blocked here on ESPN. I don’t know how far WCIU coverage extends. I believe that’s how it works. But I’m pretty sure it’s the same feed that ESPN has and if you’re out of range of WCIU coverage, then you should be receiving the ESPN coverage.

Last year...

Yes Chicago’s WCIU is not within range for me, but it gets blocked from espn anyway in the past. These were when the cubs played on ESPN as an added broadcast. I live near Rockford, Il and we can’t get WCIU…so I’m crossing my fingers that this year they let the ESPN broadcast come through.

This is one of the great mysteries of our time. I know if it was on CSN that it would indeed be blacked out but there may just be a little glimmer of hope since its on WCIU. I wouldn’t count on anything though when it comes to MLB blackout policy. It is much much stricter than either the NBA or NFL.

Thanks...

For the glimmer…I will just enjoy today’s game and hope I see tomorrows on ESPN. I’m a teacher and in another month I can watch all the games, but until school is out most days I’m only able to see the start and finish to the night games. The 1:20 games I only can see the end of, because our lovely school has such thick cement walls that AM 720 doesn’t come in….but I do sneak a peek at cubs.com as soon as the bell rings!

My understanding is...

... that this game will NOT be blacked out on ESPN, even in the Chicago and New York markets. Everyone should get it. I’ll post about this in tomorrow’s game thread, too.

Cautious Optimism

Usually in these situations, even in Indianapolis, I get ESPNnews.
