Authentic W Flag

I have always wanted a Cubs W flag for my house and my girlfriend told me today that she wants to buy me one for my birthday.

So my question is, where can we find the most authentic flag, like the one the flies at Wrigley?  We saw them online at mlb.com, dicks sports, etc. listed as "Replica" and made by Rico.  It's hard to tell by the pics but they look like they may be different.

I also found one at http://www.arcollectibles.com/Cubs.html that reads "just like the one that flys at Wrigley field".

So I figured this would be the best place to ask as I'm sure many of you have one, or know the best place to buy from.

Thanks, and Go Cubs!

I think the Cubs sell these.

Check the Cubs website. I know they sell them at the convention, but that doesn’t help you now.

Cubs Auction

They always are auctioning off the real deal on the cubs website. It’s kind of pricey, but they’re currently auctioning off a W flag from last August. The auction goes through 4/27.

Tons of places do

Wrigleyvillesports.com, CubWorld.com, even some independent sellers on Amazon.

And if you're lucky

go to Wrigley the last few weeks fo the season. Last year they set up a store next to Harry’s statue. I bought flags that flew on the scoreboard. They sell all the flags you see in the stadium, on the stadium, on the scoreboard and on the foul poles. They also sell old replaced seats and team gear thats left over. It’s a gold mine. I’m sure they will have a W flag that was flown on the scoreboard during the season. I have a bought a few of the team flags they use for the standings. The Cubs replace those flags throughout the season and keep tham, then sell them.

Ebay

It may not be exact with a stiched on W (whether or not thats the kind thats really used or not at Wrigley) but I went on ebay and there are tons on there for cheap. I just checked again and its funny that they seem to be in a bit more demand now than when I orginally got mine, gee I wonder why :) I only payed $5 and that included shipping which is better than $45 across the street at Wrigley in my opinion. The seller I bought mine from I believe was jimbo2354 so you can look it up that way or just do a search and you’ll see tons of em. I couldn’t be happier with mine and when I travel to Pittsburgh I’m bringing it with and am going to try to lower it into the dugout and hopefully get as many signatures as I can.

Next Wednesday

Next Wed vs. the Brewers they are GIVING them away! Wow!

Too bad it is for your car and will say “W”xrt or “W”achovia or “W”ashington Mutual.

Hey Al, it’s been a while since I’ve been in the bleachers for a SGA. I know they gave out McDonalds mugs last year before the game (half ended up on the field) but will they pass out flags before the game or a ticket for you to get it after?

Sorry if this hijacks the thread. Just a quick response is fine. Thanks.

Your story about creating the Fukudomer… reminds a bit of Ben, the school teacher from Fever Pitch. (btw I LOVE that movie)

Any similarities there???

If Im being too nosy…. sorry about that

even more hijack

why is it everyone gets up in arms and demands that racist Fukudome shirts stop being sold, yet it’s perfectly acceptable to walk around with a stereotypical depiction of an American Indian on your shirt/avatar as long as you call him Chief.

I just don’t get it.

As for flags, I got mine online at Wrigleyville Sports and it’s good quality.

Hijack This

First of all, thanks guys for your suggestions regarding the W flag.

To Gibbon, I’m sorry that you’ve made the mistake of believing I actually care what you think about Chief Illiniwek. If genuine, your concern about the American Indian people is commendable. Below is a list or organizations that can use your help and/or support. I suggest you focus your time and energy on actually being a positive influence in the lives of Native Americans rather than worry about shirts and avatars.
