Game Time Changes Announced
Fox-TV, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that a May 10 Cubs/Diamondbacks matchup is more desirable than a July 12 Cubs/Giants game.
Thus, these two games will swap game times and TV coverage.
Saturday, May 10 vs. Arizona will now start at 2:45 CDT and be on Fox-TV regionally ("check local listings").
Saturday, July 12 vs. San Francisco will now start at 12:05 CDT and will be carried on CSN Chicago.
If you are attending either of these games, make note of the changes.
UPDATE: It's official:The May 10 contest between the Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field, originally scheduled to begin at 12:05 p.m., will start at 2:45 p.m. to accommodate an exclusive television broadcast by the FOX network.
Additionally, the July 12 contest between the Cubs and San Francisco Giants, originally scheduled to begin at 2:55 p.m. and be televised by FOX, will now start at 12:05 p.m. and be televised by Comcast Sports Net.
That's right, 2:45, not 2:55. Why? I have no idea.

Isn't the actual game time start at 2:55?
I ask this not to nitpick, but in the hopes of saving my fellow BCBers from 10 minutes of having to see/listen to Fox’s pointless pre-game prattle and drivel.

Not for games this early in the season, for some reason.
Check the schedule for next Saturday in St. Louis—it’s also 2:45 CT.

It's a 2:55 pm start
If today is any indication of how Fox runs their Saturday coverage the rest of the year, here’s how it shakes out (all times Central).
2:00 – This Week In Baseball
2:30 – Fox pregame studio show (Jeanne Zelasko, Eric Karros, Kevin Kennedy)
2:45 – Fox pre-game regional coverage
2:55 – First pitch
Watching Fox MLB coverage so you don’t have to…

Huh.
Wonder why the 2:45 start time shows on the schedules, then. It’s listed that way on the Cubs website.
But, note that the starting times for the game in LA on June 7 and the game at the Cell on June 28 are both listed as 2:55.
I’m planning on 2:45. That way I won’t be late. :)

Hmm... that's a tough call, but you're probably making the right choice
I guess making sure you don’t miss any of the Cubs action is worth the possibility of having to put up with Buck McCarver for 10 minutes. ;-)
But if the choice was missing a Cubs inning or watching more Jeanne Zelasko, sorry – but I’d rather miss an inning. I don’t care if Soriano works the count for a leadoff walk every time. Zelasko just absolutely hurts my ears (and eyes). She has to have pictures of somebody…. has to.

I guess I'll go to the AZ game.
I can’t stand Tim McCarver so I’ll be attending the game rather than listening to that Joe Morgan prodigy.

I have tix
for 7-12 and my tix say 2:55 start time. I was pretty bummed to read this as I prefer the later start to allow for “pregame activities” in the area.

Obviously...
... you bought your tickets before the time change. Fox games after the end of May all had a 2:55 start time rather than 2:45.
Guess you’ll have to start your “pregame activities” earlier. Either that, or you will have more time for “postgame activities”! :)

Yes, bought when they first went on sale
No biggie though, will just have to start with a brunch instead of a lunch. Actually, breakfast if we want to get good seats. I’ll swing by to meet you this day.

Thanks,
I have tickets to two Saturday games and it’s these two. I don’t mind the later starts, especially in May. Lunch at Bernies on the patio!
Saturday noon games are tough but I’ll be there. I wish it were like the days before Fox and we just said here is when we play, you want it on TV, see you then.
This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).
