Pie comes in for Johnson

Wonder if RJ is hurt?
He’s done fine defensively in CF, and I think he can hit RHP.
This is weird…

How many breaking balls
is he going to stand there and take for strike 3? With 2 strikes, how can you complete freeze up and take breaking balls in the zone? I understand this was a backdoor slider, but he has taken curveballs right down the middle.

Did anyone else hear the Washington radio guys talking about Fukudome’s birthday cake that was delivered to the clubhouse?

not listening to them, what did they say?

XM has the Wash broadcast
So they said a cake came and his name was “spelled wrong”. So the other guy says “Oh my! Did they put a ‘C’ before the ‘K’? My wife asked if they could say that on radio. Then the guy who saw the cake says no no no they didn’t put a C before the K.
Anyway his name was spelled Fukodome and it was a real mistake but it was a funny conversation. Even for the people who didnt get it the 1st time they got it when the guy spelled it out loud saying F-U-K-O-D-O-M-E.
I guess ya had to be there haha

There's a MASN promo airing
where fans are attending announcer training camp and are learning how to pronounce difficult names. Last name is Fukodome’s – any everyone starts laughing, except for Nats studio host Johnny Holliday who asks “What are you, twelve?”
Even Piggy’s name was in the promo – someone said “Pigs in Jello”?

Soto
Is on pace for 120+ strikeouts. Meanwhile, can he keep up a .410 BABIP? I think that would be a record. He is going to trend down in his BA/OBP/SLG.
Meanwhile, Pie is trending up. That said, Soto is clearly a better hitter than Felix.

Luck
Because how often a person strikes out tends to be more consistent for a player than batting average of ball in play. BABIP can fluctuates wildly from year to year for the same player, but K/9 don’t, as much.

I honestly dont think that they knew what to do with that
Cordero’s fastball, which used to be in the mid 90s was barely hitting 80. Sutton was commenting on how slow it was.
