Wonder if RJ is hurt?
He’s done fine defensively in CF, and I think he can hit RHP.
This is weird…

prolly just wanna get some AB's to Pie
since it looks unlikely the nats are gonna provide any offense

How many breaking balls
is he going to stand there and take for strike 3? With 2 strikes, how can you complete freeze up and take breaking balls in the zone? I understand this was a backdoor slider, but he has taken curveballs right down the middle.

I assume you're talking about the SB below.
Len and Bob said “steals”. Not sure what the ruling was.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
HAHAHAH
Did anyone else hear the Washington radio guys talking about Fukudome’s birthday cake that was delivered to the clubhouse?
"Stay thirsty my friends....."
not listening to them, what did they say?
Len and Bob mentioned there was a cake but I don’t think they described it at all.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
XM has the Wash broadcast
So they said a cake came and his name was “spelled wrong”. So the other guy says “Oh my! Did they put a ‘C’ before the ‘K’? My wife asked if they could say that on radio. Then the guy who saw the cake says no no no they didn’t put a C before the K.
Anyway his name was spelled Fukodome and it was a real mistake but it was a funny conversation. Even for the people who didnt get it the 1st time they got it when the guy spelled it out loud saying F-U-K-O-D-O-M-E.
I guess ya had to be there haha

There's a MASN promo airing
where fans are attending announcer training camp and are learning how to pronounce difficult names. Last name is Fukodome’s – any everyone starts laughing, except for Nats studio host Johnny Holliday who asks “What are you, twelve?”
Even Piggy’s name was in the promo – someone said “Pigs in Jello”?
HAHAHAH
Well it was for sure one of the 2 Nats guys.
I’ve seen one of those commercials but it had Grudzielanek and saltalamacchia and one of the Yankee pitchers. Good stuff.

Ball gets away from Soto,
Milledge takes off for 2nd. Soto throws it into CF, Milledge heads for third. Pie picks it up and fires to third, cuts Milledge down at third. Absolutely perfect placement by Pie. 2 out.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
I assume you're not being facetious
Has Estrada really put on a lot of weight since last season?
"I've never complained about it. I'm thankful to have a jersey." Mark DeRosa, 22 Aug 2007
He looks huge.
Part of it is his baggy jersey, but the guy looks like a monster.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
Wow!
His knees must be killing him, crouching with that mass on top.

Soto
Is on pace for 120+ strikeouts. Meanwhile, can he keep up a .410 BABIP? I think that would be a record. He is going to trend down in his BA/OBP/SLG.
Meanwhile, Pie is trending up. That said, Soto is clearly a better hitter than Felix.
by californiachicagoan on Apr 26, 2008 8:38 PM CDT up reply actions
i don't see how....
...you can assume that he’s gonna keep the same strikeout pace, but not the same hitting pace.
------ TheRiot Squad ------
by RightFieldSucks on Apr 26, 2008 8:41 PM CDT up reply actions
Luck
Because how often a person strikes out tends to be more consistent for a player than batting average of ball in play. BABIP can fluctuates wildly from year to year for the same player, but K/9 don’t, as much.

I honestly dont think that they knew what to do with that
Cordero’s fastball, which used to be in the mid 90s was barely hitting 80. Sutton was commenting on how slow it was.

A little fun with "at this pace"...

DeRo: 17 RBI * 6 = 102
With that production, the Cubs will win a lot of games.
"I've never complained about it. I'm thankful to have a jersey." Mark DeRosa, 22 Aug 2007
I am just getting on line..
But apparently if I read the box score correctly, we let 2 men die after lead off doubles in the 5th and 6th? The cubs are living on the edge and better figure out how to score when given the golden opportunities!

Went shopping for Cubs t-shirts today. I was on my cell phone which has a Cubs cover on it and some young guy comes up and says , “I like your phone.” He holds his up and he has a Cubs cover too. We both started laughing.
