OT:Matt Morris released
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3370410
It seems Pittsburgh woke up today, and realized a year late what everyone else already knew; trading for Morris was a dumb idea. Hopefully -- with Littlefield already gone -- this will put Pittsburgh back on the road to being competitive.
Of course, I'm curious to know where people think he'll end up this season. Any chance of him being reunited with Dave Duncan in St. Louis?

Why would you hope Pittsburgh would begin to be competitive?

I'm a baseball fan man...
I always want the Cubs to beat whatever team they’re playing; past that though, I just want to see good baseball.
And no fans should have to endure long streaks of losing.seasons like they have. A baseball fan - any fan - deserves better.

We haven't deserved our prolonged drought of ultimate success...
so what? I couldn’t care less about the poor Pirates fan having to endure the current run of bad seasons/teams.

Maybe the Giants will take him back.
They could team him with Zito and have the most expensive 1-2 crappy starters in baseball. (Yes, bison, I stole this from the email you sent me earlier today.)

Speaking of Zito -
Does anyone remember which Chicago writers attacked Jim Hendry for “settling” for Lilly and not going for the gold with Zito?

No...
... but I know a lot of people here did.

I know a lot of writer's attacked Hendry
I for one was glad to see he did not sign Zito. I’m not a fan of pitchers with an awkward or confusing delivery I feel like they have 1 or 2 good seasons but once the league figures them out they just go downhill.

There were many here
that said Hendry must get either Schmidt or Zito. Anyone raising their hand?

Actually, Giants are thinking about putting Zito in the bullpen
or at the very least, having him skip a start.
http://www.mercurynews.com/giants/ci_9081450
After another erratic and utterly hittable start in a 10-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday at AT&T Park, Giants Manager Bruce Bochy all but declared he would skip Zito or demote him to the bullpen.“We’ve got to do something,” said Bochy, after Zito allowed a six-run first inning. “We can’t keep doing what we’re doing and getting what we’re getting.”

Maybe that should be "most expensive crappy middle relievers in baseball"
ESPN bottom line said Zito is headed to the bullpen per Buster Olney.
No confirmation yet.

I thought it was funny!
(And who knows, maybe the Giants are just dumb enough to do this.)

I dunno
Maybe Sabean is shopping Cain, Sanchez, and Wilson for another mediocre AL catcher….

Well...
... I dunno about that… that might take up way too much space. But if there’s ever an important baseball happening, sure, if I haven’t already posted about it, feel free to post and discuss.
