Lee's average is up to .333

with 2 freakin home runs!

He didn't hit his second home run, last year, until May 4th

Look at it this way...

When Sori starts to get on base, and A-Ram gets a few hits. There will be a ton of runs scored with how Lee and Fuku are hitting. Be patient, we still have a LONG way until May.

I noticed that too

I noticed that too. Hopefully it's just a medication adjustment. When my uncle has an adjustment his face sometimes gets fuller for a few days as his body adjusts. He is pretty much in the same boat as Santo healthwise (he has only lost one leg though)

We are all waiting for that glorious October night when we finally win it all. Until then we will continue to cheer, never do the wave and hope.

Good game

the bats are starting to come alive!

I'm going to bet that Soriano turns it on in the next two or three games. He's gonna change some minds around here!

Soto probably needs the day off.

No idea about Reed Johnson, but I'm not sure I'm happy about the direction this is heading in.

by cwyers on Apr 5, 2008 3:16 PM CDT up reply actions

that and I think Z prefers Blanco....

Yeah, I don't see a use of Pie

being in the majors if he's not getting ABs. If he doesn't start in Chicago, he might as well start in Iowa. My two cents

by NittanyCub on Apr 5, 2008 3:17 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree

and I think Pie hitting 8th is the worst thing for him....with the pitcher next, he won't see any good pitches....

by crazymountain on Apr 5, 2008 3:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Where Oh Where ....

do you suggest hitting Pie then, friend? Hard to see the point of hitting a free swinging low OBP hitter higher. And, to top it off, a hitter that does not know the strike zone.

Felix should be attached at the hip to Dome and kept as far away as possible from his buddy Fonzie. Most of the Cubs could take lessons from Kosuke on discipline at the plate. Since Felix is never going to smack Fonzie's HRs he'd better find ways of getting on base and taking advantage of his speed.

If It Takes Forever ....

In front of Soto

Soto will give him some protection.....And I agree about Dome....the whole team should be in class with him...

by crazymountain on Apr 5, 2008 4:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Lou Brock

hit .263, .258 his first two seasons and was hitting .251 with the Cubs when he was traded to the Cards, ending the season at .315. I think we have to give Pie a chance at this level.....Do we have any better CF's in the system?

by crazymountain on Apr 5, 2008 4:10 PM CDT up reply actions

are you counting

Johnson?

2008: The year we put it all together.

by drewishdrewid on Apr 5, 2008 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree

if you're talking upside in the future.

Upside RIGHT NOW? I don't know. Pie hit well in ST, and has been pretty good in the first 4 games. Johnson has also been good. It's a problem I'm not unhappy to have. :D

2008: The year we put it all together.

by drewishdrewid on Apr 5, 2008 4:14 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree

having two good CF's is a great problem.....Now if we could find someone stupid enough to trade for Marquis.....

by drewishdrewid on Apr 5, 2008 4:34 PM CDT up reply actions

not really.

I think Soto might be tired and Z liked and knows Blanco, and Lou wants him to get a win.

Reed... well, he's playing pretty darn well, isn't he...

Just what the Doctored ordered.

A Cubs win and a gorgeous day :----) About time, huh! Get out there everyone if you can and take it in if obviously in the chicagoland area... Let's beat em' tomorrow the same way.. Go Cubs!

Interesting comments from lou's presser

- Reed will start again tomorrow. Take that for what its worth, but w/ the Pirates starting at least one lefty in the upcoming series, Pie may be riding the bench... a lot

- Lou was clearly not happy with Marquis today. When asked about Jason's performance, Lou brought up the fact that he gave up runs after the base running gaffe... Lou was clearly not happy, said Jason went on his own. Lou said Jason threw okay, but needed to get better.

by dmlichte on Apr 5, 2008 3:17 PM CDT reply actions

that was a little league baserunning mistake

totally inexcusable with 1 out and 2,3,4 coming up....

by crazymountain on Apr 5, 2008 3:31 PM CDT up reply actions

Marquis

went to a psych to make sure he did well in the 2nd half.....guess he traded good first half for a bad one!!!

Anyone know who sent Reed running with DLee 4 for 4 up? Here in New Mexico we don't get much coverage of ANYTHING!!!!!

by crazymountain on Apr 5, 2008 3:22 PM CDT reply actions

Soto was 1 for 4

is he still hitting shots right at people?

by crazymountain on Apr 5, 2008 3:33 PM CDT reply actions

he struck out at least once.

Don't remember the other shots. Didn't he get an RBI?

No RBI

but a triple?? Felix give him his legs for today?

he was CHUGGING

for that triple. It was kind of funny, actually. :D

Lahey DFA'ed From Phils!

Will he clear waivers now and come back to the Cubs at AAA Iowa?!?

Jacque Jones is gone, and I doubt Ivan DeJesus would mind this!

by initram on Apr 5, 2008 3:34 PM CDT reply actions

If he clears...

... the Twins have first rights. If they take him back they have to pay the Cubs $25K. If Lahey is the PTBNL in the Craig Monroe deal than something will be worked out and we'll see Lahey in Iowa.

Dome's clutch

Looks like he did it again, in winning effort this time, right?
This is sleepy Sunday morning here in Okinawa, Japan, but the video clip of his 2-run double shook me up....
Happy to see he showed our Dragons' spirit over there...

He's been a very good representative

of Japanese baseball. I would be very proud of him and his performance and professionalism so far.

I love Fukudome already. What's his stardom like across the pond? Do youngsters wear his jersey, how widespread is it, etc.? And have you seen any Fukudome CUBS jerseys yet?

Well spreaded

I know his every move is well reported here on TV, but per jersey, I am way far away from Dragons hometown Nagoya so I am not sure....
We have too many US military bases here in Okinawa, and if I find any military personnel who wear Dome's jersey I will let you folk know...
