What is this “injury delay”?? Anything notable?

Gallardo faked an injury.
Over time, your quickness with a cocky rejoinder must have gotten you many punches in the face - Al Swearengen
Wow...sure glad Soriano is adding that much needed ooomph to the top of the lineup!
What is the point of leading him off when things were working so well? Anyways, have to listen to this game at work so “GO CUBS GO!!!”
Wow
Reed Johnson does have a tendency to be a sort of ballhog out there, but that was probably his ball to catch
Missouri Tigers 2008 Cotton Bowl Champs
Ofcourse that was his to catch
He’s the CF….When he is calling for it, the RF needs to get the feek out of the way.
Over time, your quickness with a cocky rejoinder must have gotten you many punches in the face - Al Swearengen
Cripes!!!!!! Great....boneheaded play in the outfield and now we blow it!!!!
Come on Cubs get your heads outta your butts!!! Man oh man….soon as I start listening to the game…BLAMMO…crap starts happening….
maybe you should
turn the radio off. :D

Hall hit it into Right
Fielder tried to score. Fukudome took him OUT with a strike to Soto.

Dome made up for his mental error earlier in the inning
and threw Fielder out at home on a single. Fielder barrelled into Soto who hung on to the ball for 3rd out of inning
Over time, your quickness with a cocky rejoinder must have gotten you many punches in the face - Al Swearengen
DIRTY.
That was a little dirty. Fielder shoved his elbow into Geovany’s face. WTF? You’re not supposed to lead with your shoulder and arm like that. Way to go Geo. Helluva throw from Kosuke too.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
Not dirty...
that’s exactly how you do it. You lead with your shoulder and forearm as a runner. Otherwise, you take the brunt of the collision yourself. It’s a painful play for the catcher, but that’s the way it goes.
Not how I was taught.
You don’t go for the face. I was told you’re supposed to cross your arms and just run into him. NOT go for the face like the replay seemed to indicate, although such a thing could be inadvertent on Fielder’s part too.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
My question is: why in the world is he running on Fukudome's arm?
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
Yost
has apparently substituted his third base coach with Wavin Wendle (sp?)
"Very adroit in the outfield." - Lou, on Dome
Wendall, as in Wendall Kim
but since some of us seem to think he’s become Dusty, it wouldn’t surprise me. heh.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
To be honest...
I don’t think he was aiming for anything but Soto in general. You’re running full speed and trying to deliver a blow. It’s hard to line up your hit exactly in the chest if you don’t do it regularly.
And what you were taught as a child has a lot more to do with the fact that little kids shouldn’t be hitting other little kids in the face. It’s a little different at the next level.
FYI - Brenly agrees...
it was a high hit, but not a dirty play. Just good hard baseball.
Even so.
It looked like he was trying to elbow him in the face. I realize it’s a hard play, but still.
At least we can take heart that it wasn’t Barrett, who probably would have slugged him. ; )
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
I don't think he was TRYING to elbow him in the face...
again, at full speed, you’re just trying to deliver a big blow. It’s hard to aim when you’re running that hard. I really don’t think he was trying to elbow Soto in the face.
Wasn't arguing with the "inadvertant" part...
I was arguing with the “dirty” part.
If it was intentional, it was dirty. I do not think it was intentional. Thus, I think it was not dirty.
Semantics.
I said I thought it was dirty, but it also could have been inadvertent. You win, congratulations.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
You didn't say "I thought."
You said “that was a little dirty.”
To clarify...
My replies to your “I thought it was inadvertant” weren’t arguing. Just pointing out my view of the play. I agree that neither of us can know what is actually the case. Please don’t take it so contentiously.
Soto's got balls of steel for hangin' in there on that play.
I gotta see the replay…there will probably be a video clip up on gameday.
Nanika Ga Okoru!
That's why
i love gameday 2008 b/c they have more video clips. Even got to see Gallardo’s injury
"Very adroit in the outfield." - Lou, on Dome
Just Saw the replay in the boss' office.
Soto had to be sh*ttin his pants.
"In all the categories that you pay the most attention to, except the loss column, we're doing very well" - Jim Hendry
Just watched it on gameday myself.
Soto rolled with it really well. Killer throw by Dome!
Nanika Ga Okoru!
Great throw...
Fielder’s not the fastest guy, but that was a really good throw.
Now that play at the plate needs to SPARK our offense!!! That is the kind of play...
that should be a turning point! Let’s GO CUBS!!!!! Yeah, the Brewers have thrown a couple cheap shots on the basepaths this series…..

It's not just homerism
He was safe at home – the home plate ump blew the call. (Thank God.)– roguejim, from Brew Crew Ball
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
So because a guy from BrewCrew says it,
it’s automatically true?
Good enough for me. We’re just gonna have to disagree on this.
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
Um, no?
Leave Artie McStrawman alone. You said “enough of the homerism”. If someone from the other side says the same thing, is it really homerism? Answer: No.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
Look at what I said, dude.
“We’re just gonna have to disagree on this”
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
Well okay, but if you're going to mischaracterize what I said like that, I'm going to correct you, regardless whether you agree.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
Alright, so one fan
from the other team agrees, while 10-12 people from here say he’s automatically safe doesn’t constitute homerism?
I didn’t misinterpret anything, I’m saying that once he was tagged, people automatically thought he was safe because a) the crowd boo’ed, b) Piniella came out and c) it was a close call. It could have gone two ways, yes, but the sudden comments brought up right afterwards only went one way.
Before you try to correct me, read what I’m really trying to say before you get offended.
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
Haha, there you go again.
Maybe you should read what other people said instead of telling me to read yours, which I characterized correctly. I don’t think anyone based their decision on “the crowd booing” or “Piniella coming out” or just because it was a “close call”. They made their decisions based on ….. the replay …. that they saw … with their own eyes …
And it’s not just one fan over there. Go count them at bizarro BCB. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Just about everyone who piped up over there agrees it was a bad call. I’m not offended, just stating what’s obvious to anyone who doesn’t want to cry “homerism”.
Also, cheese. Go Cubs.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
I saw it REAL TIME
before I even looked at the replay….seriously.

Fukudome’s foot BEAT THE TAG! Under no circumstances were you right. Whether or not the basis of anyone else’s argument is solid doesn’t make your statement any less wrong.
Did I not just say he was CORRECT?
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
Yes, but you're still mischaracterizing what I said.
My comment was, “It’s not just homerism.” Then I quoted the opinion of a Brewers fan, who could not possibly be a homer. I didn’t say, “One fan from Brew Crew Ball said it, therefore it’s true,” which is what you keep clinging to.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager

Good one...
you’re so clever – make rude comments and I’ll respond.
Yes, after making a snippy comment about it...
But since at least you seem to realize that he was actually safe, that’s all that mattered.
The reactions on this thread...
were based on seeing the replay (at least mine were), not the fan reaction on TV.
The call was incorrect. Doesn’t matter whether people were saying it for the right or wrong reasons. It was the INCORRECT call. You replied saying it was the correct call. That was also INCORRECT. Trying to rationalize it is silly.
No, what makes it true...
is that his foot beat the tag.
The call was out, but it was not the correct call.
And as northsider noted, it’s not a “homer” thing to say that Fukudome should have been called safe. It’s just a rational statement based on the replay.
Yep, go watch the replay on Gameday.
Dome’s foot hits the plate before Kendall applies the tag. Very close play, but the ump got it wrong.

i like “mar-mel” a lot better, like how len and bob say it. “mar-MOLE” is how the national guys say it.
I'm the guy in the blue under armour shirt
In Spanish...
it is pronounced “mar-MOLE”
but that’s often not how American play-by-play guys pronounce things.
Mar-MOLE
He’s got an accent over the a, which you’d pronounce it like that.
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
Actually...
if there is an accent over the “a”, then it would be pronounced: MAR-mole.
I didn’t know there was an accent over the “a.”
In either case, he “a” makes an “ah” sound, and the o makes an “oh” sound. If the accent is on the “a”, then the first syllable is said with more emphasis.

That is yet another reason why Marmol is more valuable to the team in the middle innings role and not as closer.
at least as a reliever

You've gotta respect Uecker

A great performance by everyone involved

Who else gets behind 3-0 and comes back to K a guy in a situation like that?
Marmol’s ma BOY
"Anything under 5 pitches is a bad at-bat."
it is kind of cute what he does with the song
“it’s root root root for the brewers, you do the same for the Cubs.”
i’ll give him that.
I'm the guy in the blue under armour shirt

I love Uek, too
but he is pushing it when he comes down to sing…
No way
He handles the stretch great and laughs along with the crowd.

Yeah, at least he acknowledges that we "do the same for the Cubs." He's no Marty Brennaman.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
Yeah, that was a perfect Marmol usage time. It’s like he is looking ahead to that K pitch the whole time, even while getting down 3-0.

Bob Uecker
Who thinks Bob is going to do a repeat of the 7th from last year? Last year he sang, "Root, root root for the Brewers, and you can do the same for the cubs, cuz it’s one, two…….."
Singing the song correctly
should be a requirement I think, but then again, about only one in ten people actually get all the words correct. I know, I know, it is a difficult bunch of lyrics.
Usually, yes
But I think a hall-of-famer Mr. Baseball can change it up a little.

Could leadoff be in Sori's contract
Do you guys think there was a clause in his contract that said he had to bat leadoff??
if that were the case
why would he say publically that he’d do anything Lou wanted him to?
I think Lou knows he’s comfortable there, and wants to give him a LITTLE bit of time after he comes back from the DL.
