by drewishdrewid on May 11, 2008 4:13 PM CDT up reply actions

To sum up...

Gallagher got the first two outs and the cubs were the best ever.
Then he gave up a run in the first. The cubs and gallagher suck.
Then the Cubs tied it as a run came across on a wild pitch. The cubs manufactured that run and therefore rock.
DLee hit a homer that the wind sliced into the grandstands in right. The cubs are the best team in the league
Gallagher ran out of gas a bit, put some guys on. Fox walked two with the bases loaded. Fox must go (ok, I said this) and Lou is giving the game away by having him throw a second inning.
Gonzalez has had a good day, but that is because the cubs suck.
The world’s skinniest man is coming in to pitch for the snakes in the bottom of the sixth.
Fox picks a guy off! he’s the best ever!

And there you go.

Agreed

It was great what the Cubs did for Gallagher. He was good enough to compete for a spot and very nearly won one. But instead of putting him in the bullpen, we kept him a starter (in the minors). Dempster said he had to train differently to get back into starting shape. After letting Leiber be the long-man, I believe we should continue our plan. And if Gallagher needs bailing out, then here comes Leiber.

Good day

It almost feels like a free win with the fact we still get to pitch Z tomorrow. Gotta win 3 of 4 from Padres.

Lets do it Cubbies

No...

gotta not lose more than 1 out of 4 against the worst offense in the NL.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

Show of hands

Show of hands of everyone who feels a heck of a lot better than they did Friday morning.

We are all waiting for that glorious October night when we finally win it all. Until then we will continue to cheer, never do the wave and hope.

Okay, enough with the 'plus' # responses

every time I see one of those, I think of Phil Rogers and his offseason team strength rating system…. [shudder]

How about using ‘agreed’, ‘me too’ or the always dependable ‘yeah, what s/he said”...

...please?

Maybe this is a sign

the last 2 times I got into a car and turned on the radio after a major event in the lives of my brother and sister in law the Cubs were winning and the other team won the game as we turned on the radio.

Yesterday we got in the car after a big event in time to hear the rally in the 7th.

We are all waiting for that glorious October night when we finally win it all. Until then we will continue to cheer, never do the wave and hope.

by puckishcubsfan on May 11, 2008 5:36 PM CDT reply actions

One example

One example is we got in the car just in time to see the homerun in New York in 2004 that started the downfall.

Nicely played weekend

The more I watch the Cards and Brewers, the more I think it really is the Cubs’ division to lose . . . but we’re looking for more, and this weekend was very encouraging.

by Shanghai Badger on May 11, 2008 7:41 PM CDT reply actions

Cubs Grades for the weekend:

Hitting with RISP: A
Defense: A
Starting Pitching: A
Relief Pitching: A

A most perfect weekend. Winning the series with a sweep of one of the most – if not the most – difficult teams in MLB to sweep.

The only question now is can they continue this kind of play (not sweeps) but good solid play, win or lose, from now until Sept. ?
