Any BCB'ers participated in "Hey Dad, Wanna Have a Catch?"
I finally think I am going to pull the trigger on some of these tickets this year. I thought that some members of BCB may have some first-hand experience in participating in this day.
Per Cubs.com:
Families and fans of all ages have the opportunity to spend 50-minutes playing catch in the outfield, running the bases or chatting in the dugouts of beautiful Wrigley Field.
Participant tickets are $150 each and include a commemorative t-shirt, photograph, baseball and lunch in the Friendly Confines Café. Each participant entering the field will need a participant ticket.
Guest tickets are also available for $15 and include access to the stadium and lunch only for those family members who wish to watch but not participate on the field. Children three and under do not need a guest ticket to enter. If this pretty accurate? Seems like a nice deal to allow a guest in for $15 dollars. My girlfriend would be able to take some priceless pictures of us out on the field. Any experiences would be very helpful. This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation, Bleed Cubbie Blue, or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief. FanPost opinions are, however, valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

My brother and I are doing it with our father this year.
It’s pricey, but it goes to a good cause and it sounds pretty cool.

I urge all Cubs fans to do it
My dad and I did it last year and it was an experience that I will never forget. I have been a fan my entire life and have never set foot on Wrigley Field, my dad and I felt stupid because we both started crying when we walked on the field. Here is just one of about 100 pics that I took that day.

I forgot to mention that they also allowed us to take batting practice in the Cubs batting closet, er cage under the right field bleachers

My brothers and my Dad and my cousins and my uncle
Us womenfolk all chipped in and treated my brothers and my dad and my cousins and my uncle to this. It is worth every penny.
For father’s day this year I made a video of this and them playing with the kids to the song “Passing It On From Father to Son”
We are all waiting for that glorious October night when we finally win it all. Until then we will continue to cheer, never do the wave and hope.

The song by Queen.....
or is there another song with a similar title by someone else? All I am aware of is Queen’s “Father to Son” I’m curious because I have 2 teenage sons who love music and anything I can do to continue to be connected to them is great, and if it has a good message, even better.

Anyone else still annoyed
by the stubborn use of the term “have a catch”—which apparently is only used on the east coast?

I'm with you
“wanna have a catch?” just simply grates on my senses every time I watch Field of Dreams. Totally destroys what could have been one of the best movies ever.
To put it in terms that Al could relate to…. it’s kinda like the Human Air Raid Siren wearing a blue jersey while being the 7th inning stretch guest conductor… ;-)

Ack!
That’d be horrendous! You do know that the HARS actually DID sing the 7th inning stretch in 2001, don’t you? Fortunately, there was a two-hour rain delay that day so most people had left by the time he screeched it out.
I don’t like “have a catch” either, but it’s not quite at that level of horrendousness.

My son and I did the Meet the Team
thing last year. Believe it or not the guys that had the most fun with the fans were Floyd, Barrett and Dempster. Most of them acted like they didn’t want to be there. Hopefully they will be in a better mood with a better start to the season this year.
Dempster story. They have the fans line up on the field and the players are in the 1st row of the grandstand. All of a sudden we hear a player yell, “just throw strikes”. I asked Dempster if it was him? He said he wanted us to hear what he hears all the time.
And every Cub fan should do the “have a catch” day with a loved one. I will remember that day fondly the rest of my life. My wife and kids took me on fathers day a few years ago. I have the picture of us standing at home plate with the scoreboard in the background, on my night stand.

Dempster is hilarious.
I hope he gets into broadcasting when he retires from playing. He’d be terrific.

I was annoyed at first but
I realize that it is from the movie, “Field of Dreams”. And since Wrigley is the field of dreams, I can deal with it.

"Have a Catch"
I hate it too. I’d never heard it my entire life until “Field Of Dreams”. Who came up with that? “Hey Dad, Lets Play Catch”, would be much better IMO.
