2008 BCB Shirts!

Yes, I am going to try to do this again... and this time, I think I've figured out a way to get the shirts to you more efficiently, AND give you a choice of design.

Thanks to BCB reader santoswoodenlegs, who you know better as the guy who posts all the photos in the game threads, we have two excellent designs to choose from:

Home plate shirt logo

Ivy shirt logo

santoswoodenlegs also made these mockup designs of three different colored shirts, white, gray and blue, so you can see what the logos would look like on each one. Vote in the poll to let me know which one you'd like best. If there's no clear favorite (or even maybe if there is), I might give a choice of logos and colors.

Ivy White

Ivy Gray

Ivy Blue

Home Plate White

Home Plate Gray

Home Plate Blue

Once all of you decide what you'd like, I will set this up through my CafePress account and you can order directly from them -- I'll post a link. That way the shirt will be shipped directly to you and you can get exactly what you want and pay for the type of shipping you want (slow, medium or fast speed, CafePress has all of those choices). I'm going to price them so we can make a $7.50 donation per shirt to Project 3000 (maybe a little more, depending on how many shirts are ordered).

So -- vote in the poll, and soon, I hope to have this all set up for getting a new BCB T-shirt.

Poll
Which shirt and color would you choose?
  • Home plate - white shirt
  • Home plate - gray shirt
  • Home plate - blue shirt
  • Ivy - white shirt
  • Ivy - blue shirt
  • Ivy - gray shirt

What about a black shirt?

We could do that, too.

I don’t think the logos would show up as well on black, though.

The site

is Bleed Cubbie Blue. Not black, or white, or green…..

And so it goes.

How about the pic on the back...

and just a small BCB logo on the front left breast? Just seems more typical of these types of shirts.

by RMRZisMYmanCRUSH on May 13, 2008 10:03 AM CDT   0 recs

Agreed

I like the big logo on the back better

Some type of BCB logo, on the sleeve, front, or back, would be a neat addition, too...

Hey Al

I was just tinkering with it online, it appeasr for $3 extra you can do an image on the front and back. Just so ya know.

by RMRZisMYmanCRUSH on May 13, 2008 11:02 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

That might push the total cost too high for some people.

Well rather than the ubiquitous...

square/rectangle pic across the chest or back, it’d have some style.

IMO

I dont like the sqaure look of the image on the shirt. Anyone else agree? Really cool though, count me in.

...the “squareness” of the image looks odd; but I am sure that can be remedied (?).

This is GREAT!! I will order two, one for my father, too.

i second this. maybe the home plate shape of the top image could be cut out so that the printed design was just shaped like the plate rather than the box?

any chance of having an option with last year’s shirt design? i really loved that one but i didn’t want to get embroiled in the whole thing….

Third

I like the home plate, but rid of the dirt border and leave just the shape of the plate.

Forth

That was my thinking, too. I like the designs, but the rigid rectangle seems a bit off.

even if it was just a home plate with the writing and some scattered dirt around the edges. I love this idea. My friends are jealous of my 2007 shirt !!!

by coral on May 13, 2008 4:20 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Or perhaps...

...you could still go with the rectangle, but transition from the shirt to the logo with a dirt-like border, instead of the box?

I love the home plate logo…good job, SWL!

but is that bad? i kinda like it.

My 2 cents...

I like the idea of the big logo on the back and a small BCB logo on the front left chest.

by BartlettBob on May 13, 2008 10:23 AM CDT   0 recs

agree

the big image on the back and smaller logo on the front would look cool

I like the design of the home plate image and yes the ivy represents wrigley but not thrilled with the image

by chicagodave on May 13, 2008 10:28 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

that style is more popular...

and i would wear it regularly. I think a small, simplified version of the ivy pic would be nice on the left chest and the plate image on the back. Actually the idea for an ‘08 number in the ivy works would be cool also. Now we’re all fashion designers… so long as we’re not doing the work

by RMRZisMYmanCRUSH on May 13, 2008 10:44 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Suggestion

What if you put the logo on the front then on the back put 08 for the year the Cubs win the World Series and put your BCB name on the top like a jersey?

So nobody has to see the scroll bar on my posts!!!!

by McRipper on May 13, 2008 10:29 AM CDT   0 recs

That would require customizing each shirt.

... a lot of work and probably a lot more $

that would be a lot more work and $

It can be done, but we’d be talking $25-30 per shirt for cost, much less donating.

Plus, I don’t wanna jinx it.

Al

The beauty of Cafepress is if you design a logo you can slap it on anything you want. Heck you could do all the different styles people want and then just do the 7.50 markup that you were talking about.

btw: Im definitely interested in whatever you decide to do. I got one last year and wear it quite a bit.

Proceeds from the shirts

Typically, the way CafePress works is that anyone can upload a design, CafePress gets a cut and the person who uploaded the design gets the rest.

Would anyone other than CafePress and Project 3000 be getting any money from these shirts?

My comments

Originally, I liked the home plate one, but after the redesigns, I like the Ivy one much better.

However, I would like it even more if the blue text on the ivy picture was slightly more legible.

That’s the only thing preventing me from buying it right now, lol.

by chicagodave on May 13, 2008 12:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Instinctively, I think the Ivy is the way to go, but...

...the font just doesn’t work for me, for some reason. This may sound weird but it looks too childlsh, too bubbly, too lovable loserish??? I don’t know what the right words are, but the BCB part is just not tough enough. And the bleedcubbieblue.com across the top is kinda hard to read – maybe because the outline letters take up more space and it’s a tight squeeze? What if you went with just a single color lettering across the top (and bottom).

Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."

by ballhawk on May 13, 2008 12:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

From a design standpoint I understand what your saying...

I could go with a straight “block” font, but the color choices get pretty limited when you put it over the ivy. White obviously works, as would any lighter color. I was trying to keep the color blue in the design for obvious reasons. I can swap-out the “bubbly” font with something more traditional.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

by hoppy91 on May 13, 2008 1:10 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I like them both

and the second pictures are much better. The designs are both awesome, it just looks like a Comcast promo instead of something that belongs on a t-shirt. It just needs to blend more with the shirt. The home plate design on a white shirt could have the white in the shirt for the white on the base. The blue shirt I’m not sure unless the BCB and written bleedcubbieblue/project 3000 were the blue t-shirt coming through the design. You’re on the right track with more sexy, anything you can make me look good in one of these is appreciated!
