Hukudome???

This is my first attempt at a fanpost so forgive me if this isn't worthy.  I recently bought some jerseys on Ebay and I came across this one and wanted to share it with you.  This guy is selling a Fukudome jersey but the name on the back is Hukudome.  He explains that it's a rare misprint and that Hukudome is actually used synonymously with Fukudome in Japan.

Here's the link:  http://cgi.ebay.com/Kosuke-Fukudome-SEWN-Cubs-Replica-Majestic-Jersey-M_W0QQitemZ200222383957QQihZ010QQcategoryZ24890QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Does anybody know if this guy's claim is valid.  Dragonsfanatic, if you read this, if you could elaborate on this, I would appreciate it because I'm actually pretty curious to find out.  Thanks.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Looks like a boo-boo

Somebody tried to order in bulk, then sell individually to make money. Except he didn’t know how to spell Fukudome!

I want to say there was a thread recently...

...on legitimate variations of the spelling of Dome’s name, but I don’t think this is one of them.

Nanika Ga Okoru!

Oh, and remember, folks: Alfonso Soriano is NOT batting leadoff. He's batting first.

also

couldn’t you just get one customized to say that?

Right

Its BS
Make the guy an offer for a buck and tell him itll take you 200 bucks to replace the incorrect spelling. I think in EBAY you can send people something about a potential ripoff I suggest this.

I thought the same thing

But the guy has a 99.9% feedback score and that’s with over 2100 items. That’s pretty damn impressive. I think it’s BS too. I’m really just curious if anybody knows for sure if he’s full of shit or not.

Thats generic anyway...

Theres no red outline on the blue type/numbers on the back

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

not necessarily...

generic, but the not as expensive “replica” jersey.

by CubFan81 on May 13, 2008 1:30 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It actually is not BS

well at least the translation part is right that the letters are mildly interchangable. The first symbol in his name is part of the H/F set of letters. This set is Ha, Hi, Fu, He, Ho. H and F are actually pretty closely related (Fu is the only F sound in the entire language).

In the same way, when people make fun of Japanese people for their use of L/R: this is because there is only one set of symbols, commonly translated as Ra, Ri, Ru, Re, Ro.

This does not mean that the guy is not conning you though.

Why?

By not purchasing it and asking for insight first? Read again

If its so special...

Why is it only 40 dollars?

H and F

This is another Japanese-Hiragana-to-Alphabet conversion issue for “Fu” sound.
Both Fu and Hu works, but people mostly use F in case of Fukudome.

I'm bleeding Dragons Blue.

by dragonsfanatic on May 13, 2008 6:48 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Thanks a lot

I was just curious of the authenticity of “Hu” as compared to “Fu”. Thanks again.
