Cubs Entrance Music
Hey everyone, remember the debate a month ago on Kerry Wood's closer music? If I'm correct he doesn't come out to anything. Well on Cubs.com they had a Q+A where someone suggested Wood come out to Vince McMahon (WWE Chairman) music "No Chance in Hell". Being I work with WWE I found it mildly amusing that came about.
That led to me suggesting they do an article on the website on ball players and what WWE music they should come out to. The article is here. While I didn't write it, I'm still plugging the idea :)
http://www.wwe.com/subscriptions/wwetunes/3242484/fieldofthemes/
This leads to the actual topic of this folder. If every player had music (real music, not WWE music) that represented how they would play what would give them? Let's have fun and be creative about some of these.
I'll add my choices in a few hours when I have time to sit down and do it.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation, Bleed Cubbie Blue, or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief. FanPost opinions are, however, valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

We are all waiting for that glorious October night when we finally win it all. Until then we will continue to cheer, never do the wave and hope.

I meant
I meant for every player. Not sure if many of you know this but at most ball parks every player gets his own music each time up.

That is a great song but...
That is what Isringhausen comes out to at Cardinal home games. Although they repeat the intro over and over cause they don’t want to play the lyrics for some reason…

What a great discussion topic...
But I prefer the organist to not necessarily denote songs to players, but to the situation. Songs like Jump Around (house of pain) or the Rocky Theme or ANY SONG U LIKE HERE could be played at various points throughout the game depending on the situation. Redundancy has its backlashes. It’s a long season, and I can only hear certain songs so many times before it wears off.
Nonetheless, a great idea. Propose it to the season tix holders who get to meet with Cubs management on the topic of improvements to the Wrigley experience. I think its in the Crane Kenney post.
I'm kind of a big deal

What If Queen Played The Chicago Cubs Soundtrack?
I am going to be different. Since Queen is my favorite band of all time, I’m doing a "what if" the Cubs line-up used ONLY Queen songs.
Soriano – Princes of the Universe
Fukudome – Another One Bites the Dust
Lee – Dragon Attack
Theriot – Breakthru
Soto – I Want It All
Ramirez – Hammer To Fall
Derosa – The Invisible Man
Edmonds – I Want to Break Free
Zambrano – Fat Bottomed Girls
Dempster – One Vision
Wood – We Will Rock You
Lily – Don’t Stop Me Now
Lieber – The Show Must Go On
After the Game
- We Are the Champions!

Ramones - Ramones
That is different, and a bit esoteric. As long as we’re in the 70’s, how about doing the first Ramones album?
Kerry Wood – Blitzkrieg Bop
Carlos Zambrano – Beat on the Brat
Jim E-d-m-o-n-d-s – Judy Is a Punk
Mark DeRosa – I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend
Carlos Marmol – Chainsaw
Reed Johnson – Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue
Rich Hill – I Don’t Wanna Go Down to the Basement
Ryan Dempster – Loudmouth
Henry Blanco – Havana Affair
Kevin Hart – Listen to My Heart
Jason Marquis – 53rd & 3rd
Ryan Theriot – Let’s Dance
Alfonso Soriano – I Don’t Wanna Walk Around With You
Kosuke Fukudome – Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World

Dunno about Hannah Montana, but that’s a great Dee Dee song. “Dave” should have left it alone. And Marquis gets it because of the address, not because of the subject matter….

organ music
i think every cubs player should get their own songs as other teams do, with the twist that each song be played by the wrigley organist. welcome to the jungle, momma said knock you out, etc. would be hilarious on the organ.

The classic Cubs soundtrack
None of this crap heard everywhere else. Doing that just opens the door for more BS and before you know it?...sensory overload. And please Cubs, no hi-end sound system, please, please, please.

Leave the sensory overload for The Cell.

Agree too
But I think there’s something to be said for players who would like specific music played for them. It’s something they earn by being in the Majors I think. However, I do respect how Wrigley doesn’t really do that.

Actually, I'm starting to lose a little respect for "Wrigley" in this regard
I’m guessing in this sense “Wrigley” is actually the Cubs Marketing Dept. As good as they’ve been over the years in building up the “Wrigley Field experience” brand, I think they’re tearing it down a bit here.
We have a player, Kerry Wood, who ‘gets’ it, and has clearly stated he doesn’t want music to be played when he enters the game, ironically enough, because he respects Wrigley. So what happens? They play music anyway. Again, I’m assuming “they” in this case is the Cubs Marketing Dept. but if anyone knows better, please respond.

You’re absolutely right. Marketing is responsible for all of this, and the fact that they ignored Wood’s request shows you that they’ve got their ideas of what they want to do, and the heck with anyone else.
That’s not a good attitude. The marketing dept. under John McDonough would NOT have done it this way.

Well....
Isn’t there gonna be one of those season ticket holder group meetings with Kenney and Co. coming up periodically? This would be a nice topic of discussion.
I’m glad Woody doesn’t want the non-sense. I see it everywhere, including “minor league” sports; they’re often worse. There’s just so much rah-rah going on.
It’s funny though, the Chicago Wolves and how they do their thing at AllState. When I see the Wolves on the road (Milw, GR, Peoria, Rockford, Quad Cities) the amount of BS rah-rah going on at those arenas is far more than at AllState. The only things at AllState I don’t like is YMCA and that hillbilly hockey game song.
Part of the Wrigley experience for generations is the pristine way of baseball for so many decades. I never want to see a mascot, fireworks, jumbotron, blaring sound and crap flashing like the Vegas strip.

I'm in minority
I know I’m in the minority for this but I’m all for any sort of upgrades from fireworks to blaring sound. We don’t need a jumbo tron but everything else seems minor.

Yes, you are, I believe
Hell, I love fireworks. I always do a lot of stuff on the 4th but for a ballgame at 1060 W. Addison? No.
Blaring sound? Again no; it’s a ball game not a concert. You’d have to go to cellblock 35 or that PoS in AZ to understand what I mean; yikes!
And of course the jumbo tron…I liked Caple’s suggestion back in ‘04 when the bleacher expansion / rooftops wasn’t settled yet. His suggestion to erect a jumbo tron was to block the view of ” ...those greedy SOBs selling tickets to sit on the neighboring rooftops.” But that would be the ONLY reason. Since that issue is solved, I don’t see the need at this place. A new ballpark, waaaaaay down the road? Fine; Wrigley? No.

Aerosmith's Classic 3rd release--Toys in the Attic
Toys in the Attic” -Scott Eyre (Fenway scoreboard)
“Uncle Salty”—Lou Piniella (“you’re damn right I thought of it”)
“Adam’s Apple”—Jim Edmonds (adam edmond-heck I don’t know) or Kosuke Fukudome-(apples are frequently served as a desert in Japan) These are reaches-if we had Pittsburgh’s LaRoche-it would have been easy.
“Walk This Way” -Rich Hill (I like Hill-sorry buddy)
“Big Ten Inch Record”—Derrek Lee (don’t go there)
“Sweet Emotion” -Carlos Zambrano (too obvious?)
“No More No More-Kerry Wood (the runs stop here)
“Round and Round” -Jon Lieber (I start-no, I relieve)
“You See Me Crying”—Ron Santo (“OHHHH NOOOOO!”)
BBWAA's name should be changed to "Power in the hands of Fools"
