Take over Shea early proposition

Call me crazy but I got this idea earlier tonight watching Red Sox/Brewers game.

There were TONS of Brewers fans there chanting "Lets Go Brewers".  This was far more audible than say the Cubs chants we heard in Colorado a few weeks ago.  The fans would go back and forth "Let's Go Brewers" "Let Go Red Sox". It was really something to hear.

This led me to my idea the last week in September.  Let's be honest, there are always tons of Cubs fans who come to Shea and we always get drowned out by rude Mets fans.  With the old rivalry between us at Shea what better way to end our time at the ball bark by filling up the stadium with as many Cubs fans as possible.

So here's my thought.  It's May.  It's early to plan a September trip.  What if as many Cubs fans as possible try to go to the Mets/Cubs series.  We pick one game (It's a Mon-Thurs night series) and just wear as much Cubbie Blue as possible.  I suspect a lot of people will come in that week because we should be competing to win the division around that time (I HOPE).

I know it's a huge feat but can you imagine if even 30% of the stadium on one of the final games played there was filled with Cubs fans?  It would make national headlines about the dedication of Cubs fans.

So if there are seriouis inquiries about doing this I say we plan a "Take over Shea. Ron Santo would be so proud since he hates coming to NY.

That would be sweet

BTW I’ve been to several Brewers game and it’s nowhere near as packed or as intense as Wrigley.

You are most welcome but

this is a 4 game Monday to Thursday series. New York is unbelievably expensive so if
you don’t already live there ( as I do) or within communting distance you would be blowing one big wad to come in and stay at hotel etc. I would invite some to stay at my place but it at under 300 square feet there is barely room for me. A New York based
group of Cub fans has already purchased 50 tickets for I believe the Wed game so
we will be out in force. Now I will be at the entire series but then I don’t have to more
than jump on a subway and by bad tickets. Also keep in mind this is the 2nd to last series at Shea, tickets are available but they are WAY back.

So we NYC Cub fans would love to have you but you might have to raid your IRA
for the $300 a night hotel rooms ( which are few and far between). You can stay
near the Airport which is close to Shea but still not cheap.

Whats the Cub group?

How have i never heard of a Cubs NY group? I have tickets for the Tues/Thurs game and plan to buy for the Mon/Wed too. Any extra tickets for another NY’er to go with the 50 Cubs fans planned to go to the Wed?

It is the Cubs fan meet up group on Yahoo

Alas the tickets had to be bought so they don’t have anymore for that outing
One guy had to shell it all out and we paid him back.
Google the yahoo meet up groups or Cubs etc.

you can e mail me jrosner at kino dot com and I can give you some direct contact info

There is a Grilled Chicken restaurant called Torihiro in Urasoe, Okinawa, where all kinds of baseball industry people get together. I found Dome's autograph in Japanese characters on the wall (lower left one, click here to enlarge) when I visit there to celebrate my friend won the regional high school baseball tournament for National Tournament in Koshien on last Sunday.

It is written entirely in Japanese vertically, reads "07.2.14, for Torihiro, Chunichi Dragons, Fukudome Kosuke #1", when he visited the restaurant on his off-day in 2007 Dragons spring training in Chatan, Okinawa.
I was messing around with an image stitching app and came up with this extreme widescreen view of Wrigley (a Dodger game in 2005). I liked the way it turned out and figured I'd share it.

Did anyone see the front page of the Trib. sports section today. There is a huge picture of Favre in a Bears jersey.

Does this totally freak anyone else out? My mind doesn't even know what to do about it.
