Mark Prior hurt again...(or still)

I can't get some oof the posts to work, but if you look at the Padres news on this site:

http://www.prosportsdaily.com/mlb/padres/

You'll see a couple of links to the story. Here's some other links that I got to work:

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h_j-Rm94kXiyI0ABLFizagzk8WGgD90N47U80

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080516&content_id=2712769&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb

Does this sound familiar? From MLB.com:

"Prior experienced discomfort in his shoulder while preparing for a bullpen session while at the Padres Spring Training facility in Arizona."

Prior was my favorite player. I hated to see the Cubs let him go. But Hendry, the Cub's staff knew what they were doing. Kudos to them.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation, Bleed Cubbie Blue, or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief. FanPost opinions are, however, valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Rick Morrisey has a good column about Prior

in today’s Trib. It made me think; was there ever a greater disappointment for the Cubs and their fans than Prior’s physical downfall? Suddenly 2003, when he was almost instantly one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball, seems a very long way away.
Like most Cubs fans, I grew incredibly frustrated with his endless injuries. I wasn’t the least bit sorry to see him go-to say he’d become a distraction is an understatement. And, let’s be honest, his personality just didn’t mesh with Chicago-he never seemed comfortable with the fan and media scrutiny that comes with the territory in places like this. But now that it looks like his career really could be over, I can’t help feeling a little bit sorry for him. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to come so close to greatness only to have it all fall apart.

I said it before

I had nothing bad to say about Prior until his employee comment. Injuries happen. Some pitchers spend their life on the DL (Hampton, Harden). That’s baseball. But for Prior to criticize the team when they sent him to the minors (after not having performed) and then a week later (or a couple of weeks) that his season was over because he needed surgery was very telling about his makeup. That was a turning point in how I perceived him.

When is the last time there was a fanpost about Prior?

Certainly it isn’t everyday. And this is actually an update on his situation, so there will probably be many people interested in it. If you don’t care, as you say, then don’t bother posting in this diary. Nobody is begging you to post.

If you don't care then move on to another post

Some of us obviously DO care and find all of this interesting.

by bluekoolaide on May 18, 2008 8:53 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I didn't post it because someone does/soesn't care

I posted it because no matter how much I (and others) wanted to keep Prior around, the front office was right.

Can't wait for the Cubs in '08!!!

one other thing

i dont run anything around here and no one does but al. i just think there ought to be respect between members of this very busy blog not to post same topic diaries over and over and over again. if something comes up at 7pm tonight that is news worthy about 99% of the time
there is a diary about it within minutes. the new search function is absolutely a great tool.

It might beeeeee!! It could beeeeeee!! It issssss!! Homerun!! Holyyyyyyy Cow!!!

I have asked over and over...

... for people to please, PLEASE check the recent post list to see if your topic has been covered recently. You can set the # of fanposts in your settings to show more if you want. If that’s not enough, PLEASE use the new search function—if you haven’t checked it out yet, please do, it’s great, very google-like and gives you several ways to view results.

cubsluver22 is right that this site is very busy and gets a lot of fanposts, which is great. But there’ s no need to rehash topics like this one over and over, or ANY topic, for that matter.

Please check before you post. Thanks.

Al...

I SWEAR I used the search function. the last post about him was a few months ago. I must have done something wrong. Sorry. I tried…..

Can't wait for the Cubs in '08!!!

by fuzzycubfan on May 18, 2008 8:03 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

No

nothing wrong here. You probably searched Mark Prior and as cubsluver said the ever so “similar” post was about alumni. I don’t mind this post as I am interested in how quickly Prior will fail.

In the past, Brian Roberts, Soriano hate, and Jim Edmonds have been overdone but I don’t think that this topic has been as beat up as some people will have you think.

Calm down.

Prior

What more can you say about Mark Prior that hasn’t been said since 2004? Not much. His major league career has been done for awhile now. It took Jim Hendry two years too long to pull the plug and stop writing the guy out paychecks. San Diego was also seduced into the trap.

I think after 2008 the plug will mercifully be pulled on the S.S. Prior. He sure made a heckuva lot of money all these years for doing nothing. It’s natural under the circumstances and based how he conducted himself that he is hated, and will always be hated, in Chicago.

Mr. Towers, tear down this wall (er, I mean give us back Greg Maddux) !

MDBNIU, once again you prove....

that you are just an idiot, an idiot who resents player salary structure these days. It is all money to you, you just hate the fact that these talented individuals make the money you only dream of. Get over it. Life is what it is, not what you wish it was…..Prior wasn’t “doing nothing”, he was injured. That means, you idiot, that he was unable to perform due to some serious shoulder issues. I’d bet that if you got a nosebleed, you would be looking for a lawyer so you could sue someone, get that easy money. You really must have a miserable life.

by crazymountain on May 18, 2008 11:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

You are just

ridiculous. We know you hate many players. Hate seems to be one of your favorite words. What a sad life you must lead.

I don’t hate Mark Prior and I know there are others here who don’t hate him.

I hate how it all ended etc etc.

Hated in Chicago? Please ..

He was the great third leg of the Rotation Of Hope in 2004. He crashed and burned. Hated? Nah.

I just won’t wear the Cubs T-shirt with his name on it any time soon, but I don’t hate him.

By the way, anyone want a Mark Prior Cubs T with the tags still on ?

Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!

Here are two fan video's from the seats that captured Aramis' clutch home run last night. I always enjoy checking out Youtube the day after to see what it was like from a fans perspective after big plays.
Show Us Your BCB T-Shirt

I ran this idea by Al, and he liked it. I thought I'd be fun to get folks to upload pictures of them in their BCB t-shirt. It gives more exposure to Project 3000 and is also a fun way to share who we are.

Al noted "It would be especially cool if people who don't live in Chicago would take the photo at a recognizable location in wherever they live. If you do this, remind people that it's just for fun -- I know some are sensitive about privacy, but if anyone is willing to post a pic like this, it'd be great."

So let's see it, BCB pride!

(p.s. if you all like the idea, recommend this FanShot... it will keep the exposure up and give folks who want to participate time to upload there photo.)

(p.s.s. Order your BCB/Project 3000 t-shirt here)
