8 out of 10?!?!?!??
Just a little fun, I created a Poll to see what people have to say about the last home stand. Soriano came out of his slump, we won 8 and were in the game for the other two including a 9th inning that almost won it off a D Lee shot to right center. I was on my seat for most of the game this home stand and could not think of any other time i have been so excited to see a great cubs team play. Feel free to share your thoughts on the stand and what you expect to see on this road stand and then coming back home next week

of course
I was a child the last time the Cubs did this, and all I wanted was to catch a Reggie Jackson HR. But still. :D
2008: The year we put it all together.
BARELY lost that 2nd PIT game. JUST barely. Still - a kick-ass homestand.
Wait a minute... who am I here?
It should have been 10/10
How did we lose a game against Estes and another one with Zambrano pitching?
because that's how baseball works
good teams sometimes lose to bad teams… Great hitters sometimes strike out against bad pitchers … Great pitchers sometimes get clobbered by terrible hitters.

Z can't have an ace start
every day. That’s baseball, man. You just don’t go 162 and 0. The difference between the worst teams and the best is still only 30 or so games. On any given day…

Baseball is a game of failure.
Come to terms with this expression and a homestand like we just enjoyed becomes all the more amazing.
Nanika Ga Okoru!
Oh, and remember, folks: Alfonso Soriano is NOT batting leadoff. He's batting first.
It was a very good homestand
but when you look at the two games we lost, it could have been a litle better. We had a 3-0 lead and Marquis sucked and gave up 4 runs, and we couldn’t get another run the rest of the game to tie it up. Even Saturday we had a 3-1 and a 4-2 lead and Zambrano couldn’t hold it. We came back to tie it at 5-5 but then Marmol of all people gave up runs to lose that game. But a 8-2 homestand is very good especially when you sweep the team with the best record in baseball.
Could've been better
But I’ll always “settle” for an 80% winning percentage!
its hard to complain...
... when you’ve won 8 of 10, are 10 over .500 and are in first place. What annoys me (and annoy is the only word I really can use) is when the Cubs seem to leave W’s on the field. The Cubs have done quite a bit of that. When the Cubs had their big struggles for what, 3 or 4 series, they just seemed to leave a few Ws on the field. Almost every game they lost could have been won w/ a key hit. The downside of the Cubs long streak of games w/ bases loaded situations was that in many of those big inning situations, the Cubs were really unable to capitalize.
Anyhow I’m happy with what we’ve got but lets hope that as the Cubs go on the road and face tougher opponents, they’re better able to put their opponents away.

Complaining about going 8-2 is like...
getting a free upgrade to 1st class from coach, and whining about having cubed ice in your drink instead of crushed.
As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

Great homestand.
They didn’nt exactly play the best teams but it’s still good.

to be fair...
... they did play the best team in the NL and swept them (unless you say the Cubs are the best team in the NL). As for the Pirates, they aren’t as bad as we’ve seen… versus the rest of the league the Bucs are above .500.
