Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

Great places for cubs fans

I am from out of state and dont get to see many cubs games on t.v.  (has there been a serious decline in WGN broadcasts over the years?)  So to watch cubs games I have to search the streets for cub friendly places or sports bars to watch the games.  I am sure people from cities other than chicago have the same problem.  Can people tell me some great cubbies bars or other places from around the U.S. to hang out? For examle;  In Portland there is Waynes Chicago Red Hots, and a little bar owned by a crazy old lady who is a die-hard cubs fan(the only place in town to get an old-style.)  There is also the Rose + Raindrop.  Everyone who works there is from the north side of Chicago, pretty awesome place.

P.S.  Same goes for anyone from Japan who knows any places there.

there's plenty of bars

around the stadium itself; probably most famous (and expensive) is the Cubby Bear, across the street.

Serious Decline In WGN Broadcasts

Absolutely, yes. WGN used to have over 140 Cubs games per year back in the 1980’s. Now, they have about 70 games per year.

Here in Tucson (The "Moon")

there is Bob Dobbs and O’Malley’s. Both bars are owned by the same brothers and one of them went to University of Illinois. They show all teams but you know it’s a Chicago bar when you walk in and they’re great places to watch the Bears too.

I do alot of traveling so it would be nice to now ahead of time if their is a cubs bar in the city I am traveling to. Now if I am in Tuscan I can watch a cubs game without getting mean mugged by d-backs fans. Thanks Tuscancubsfan. By the way the comment about the decline in wgn games was pretty sarcastic.

You will need

to learn to spell Tucson correctly or you will get mugged by d-back fans. LOL.

Maybe he meant Tuscany.

Berrian Co, MI

Future Mrs. Fuk-U-Meter’s parents have a place in St. Joes on the East coast of Lake Michigan. There is a sports bar with great burgers called “Getaway” with tons of Cubs memorabilia on the walls and even famous Cubs painted on the mens’ room walls. Only about 2 hours from Chicago.

Check it out: http://www.getawaycubbiebar.com/

Cool looking place!

Will have to stop in if I’m ever in that part of the world.

College Station, TX.

...Years ago, many years ago, I used to watch Cubs games at Dudley’s Draw. It was right next to the Dixie Chicken. I have no idea whether they are still around. I loved the remotes for the TVs, just stand on a chair reach up and turn the channel yourself.

i’ll find a cubs bar here in vegas and report back!

If you're looking touristy place in Vegas

Margaritaville is probably the closest seeing as how Jimmy Buffett owns it and he’s a Cubs fan. I was there in September last year and they had the Cubs game on a few of the TV’s. Any Vegas residents will probably know some non-touristy bars (which is probably preferable anyway).

Omaha area, go to the Chicago Dawg Place at 108th and Maple

They have a replica of the Wrigley Field scoreboard for the wall mounted menu and the owner makes all the staff wear Cubs paraphernalia. Plus, they have authentic Chicago style hot dogs, and from what I’ve been told, Italian beef as good as you’d get from Portillo’s.

Shanghai

I haven’t been to this place, but there was a story during the playoffs last year about a Cubs fan watching the game. He lives in Shanghai and runs a pizza business, I think.

Houston

Here in Houston, the best place to watch a Cubs game is Minute Maid Park. We always feel comfortable there because we outnumber home team fans. Just ask Cecil Cooper.
