Job Interview
This is a funny story that I thought you guys (and gals) would enjoy.
I went on a job interview in Indianapolis this afternoon. I just graduated from law school and passed the Bar exam so I have gotten kinda used to the interviewing process. After answering many questions (the usual job interview questions), one of the two gentlemen interviewing me put his hands on the table and said "Ok, all of this is all well and good, but you grew up in West-Central Indiana, you attended college there and you went to Ohio for law school. So, and this is the most important question of the whole interview,. . . Cubs or Cards?" It took me all of 2 seconds to respond "Cubs!!!" To which the man who asked the question said "Well, looks like we would work well together," and his partner said "Oh no, not another one." To which I responded "You guys are lucky to be in 2nd, have fun finding a closer."
I'll let you know how it all turns out, I just thought it was a funny question at the tail end of a pretty serious interview.
Go Cubs!!

Great job on the interview!
Wearing your heart on your sleeve is the sign of a true Cubs fan. If the Cards fan can’t handle it, you’d be better off at another company.

Good luck.
I had a weird question in an interview a couple weeks ago in which I was asked what my favorite movie is and why. I answered with ‘Pulp Fiction’ and related it back to the job i was interning for. In the end, I did get the job. I’m still debating whether or not to ask if that had any impact on me being selected.
good luck
i thought i had a 2L clerkship at a decent firm in kansas city locked up when i walked into a partner’s office to be interviewed. the partner had kU beaker crap all over his office. i shook his hand and asked “we won’t have to actually work together, will we?” and flashed my ‘02 Missouri class ring. he couldn’t stop laughing and told everyone all about it at lunch.
in case you don’t get the job, don’t feel bad. that is the best job i didn’t get – i might still be stuck at a middling firm in kansas city of all places instead of having a great job in Vegas. keep applying and interviewing, don’t be afraid to lateral up if your current job sucks, and work hard as hard as you can during Cubs season.

Allegience to team should always
come before a paycheck. There will be other interviews, there will never be another ‘Cubs’. Good for you young man…..you’ll do well!

how very ironic
i mentioned about a month ago, just prior to an interview, that I was an avid Cubs fan (this is mostly Tigers country). I received mixed reactions, but was offered the position as long as I don’t put Cubs memorabilia in my office. I haven’t started yet, but I already know the first thing I’ll put on my desk…...cubs clock

Where'd you go to school?
I’m a west-central Indiana school guy myself.

Reds Are Off the Radar
Wow, you have spent your whole life in Indiana and Ohio. Cubs or Cardinals? I’ve got to think that if you had grown up in the 1970’s, the Reds would have been in the conversation. The franchise sure has had a lot of erosion in its fan base.

An interview
I walked into an interview for a fill in temp position in the mid 90s and got the job despite being a Cubs fan. I worked for Frank Thomas for a few months.
We are all waiting for that glorious October night when we finally win it all. Until then we will continue to cheer, never do the wave and hope.

What did you, um, do for Frank Thomas?
Nanika Ga Okoru!
Oh, and remember, folks: Alfonso Soriano is NOT batting leadoff. He's batting first.

Hope you get the position
But the Cards do have a potential all star closer in the making in Chris Perez.
Hope you get the job
I’m a recruiter and when I do debriefs on my clients and candidates it can be real funny what the questions are.
One of the best I’ve heard has been when the client asked the question “who do you see as a leader and why” the answer came back Richard Simmons.
My client was knocked back in his chair on the sheer oddness of the answer but when the conversation was over my candidate got the job.
If the world didn't suck we would all fall off.
Congrats.
I just graduated from IU-Indy for law school and have started studying for the bar here in Indianapolis.
Forgot to say
I had a similar experience in an interview and got the job. Hope it works out for you as well.
