Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Young and Bard were wiped out in the same inning by Pujols last night. I don't usually have anything complimentary to say about Pujols, but he seemed genuinely shaken up and concerned. He even seemed to be saying a little prayer for Young while he was surronded by trainers etc on the ground. Both injuries were very gruesome. Watch at your own descretion.

I've always respected Pujols

even though he’s a redbird. He’s NOT a prima donna …. I think he plays the game as it should be played. He’s hardnosed, disciplined and most of all, a quiet leader who doesn’t think his ‘poo’ doesn’t stink. I wasn’t at all surprised to hear his words of concern after the game or to see him lifting up a prayer.

Maybe some twinge of ‘grins’ seeing icky Chris Young go down. Glad he wasn’t hurt seriously though…just a broken nose.

I saw the footage on either Sportscenter or Sportsnight last night...

...and all I can say is, “Wow.” The comebacker to Young’s dome was bad enough, but then taking out Bard in the same inning was almost grotesquely funny. Obviously, neither incident was intentionally on Pujol’s part but…wow. And, yeah, I felt bad for Young but, at the same time, I pictured DLee chuckling to himself in his hotel room. (Not that Derrek would really this, of course.)

Maybe the next time Young faces Pujols he can throw one at Albert’s head and start a brawl. That way he can tell his grandkids he went mano y mano with two of the greatest first basemen in the game.

Nanika Ga Okoru!

Oh, and remember, folks: Alfonso Soriano is NOT batting leadoff. He's batting first.

Pujols is a great player

who plays the game the way it was meant to be played. He wouldn’t intentionally hurt anyone. What a talent!!!
