Welcome to the crazymountain, bump bailey, emelie guitar pickin' overflow thread... ;-)
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
look at the time stamps...
I opened the thread at 7:32 CT and just sat there with an empty comment box for 5 minutes… couldn’t think of anything to say. Was just about to do the “first” out of sheer boredom and desperation when inspiration hit me like a line drive up the middle off my leg.
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
Thank You, Thank You Very Much.....
whoops, shouldn’t have bowed, just ripped my pants…..

Know mistakes him for Cy Young
but he’s put us in a position to win tonight. No?

uh...
when he gives up a 2 run homerun?
No, not really.

sorry
see the third single in the inning he just gave up to make us 2 down instead of 1 down.
Jason Marquis sucks.

So he's supposed to pitch a shutout every night?
I don’t like him either, but scoring 1 run doesn’t do it.
Until the 3 straight hits in the 6th, he was having a very good game
by Shanghai Badger on May 24, 2008 7:52 PM CDT up reply actions
you cannot call
giving up a two run home-run a good game. Not when you’re Jason Marquis, anyway.
2008: The year we put it all together.
by drewishdrewid on May 24, 2008 7:52 PM CDT up reply actions
Totally agree
What’s the guy supposed to do, pitch a shutout every night?
I’m no big fan of Marquis, but tonight was a good start.
by Not Bruce Froemming on May 24, 2008 7:56 PM CDT up reply actions
are you watching the same game I am?
Marquis is singlehandedly losing it for us.

um
The game that you don’t know where DeRosa went?
Yeah, I’m watching.
Singlehandedly! Because he K’d with the bases loaded . . . because he’s stranded runners all over the place.
Maybe I’m NOT watching the game you’re watching. I’m watching the Cubs and Pirates on May 24, 2008—you?
by Shanghai Badger on May 24, 2008 7:57 PM CDT up reply actions
I stepped away from the TV
The cubs were winning the game. Now they’re not. that’s Marquis’ fault.
2008: The year we put it all together.

for reals??
nobody has ever won a game when giving up a 2-run homer? any pitcher that gives up a 2-run homer sucks?
Before Edmonds: 24-16, (.600); With Edmonds: 4-3 (.571), DRS: 1
I didn't say that.
But Jason Marquis can not keep it together. That 2-run HR was the start. Three singles in this inning was the continuation. And it’s not over yet. He does not maintain control of the game the way Z or Lilly or Dempster do.

three
and you can pitch ten quality starts in a row and still be 0-10.
He does not help this team win games.

Hoo boy
If that was Zambrano, you’d be saying it was a great effort.
Yes, Marquis is bad. His attitude stinks.
However, how about a little objectivity? He did NOT pitch poorly tonight.
by Shanghai Badger on May 24, 2008 7:54 PM CDT up reply actions
but it's NOT
Zambrano, and that’s part of the problem. It’s Marquis. I’m being objective. He sucks, and I want him off the team.

screw objective.
I’m no longer giving Marquis the benefit of the doubt.
He’s becoming a clubhouse cancer.
Do you see this game? We’re LOSING TO THE PIRATES!
Dump Marquis. DFA him. Stick him in the bullpen forever.. I don’t care. I don’t want him pitching for this team anymore.

well, if there is a hell for BCBers
then Soriano is on MDBNIU’s fantasy league team and Marquis is on drewishdrewid’s.
and everyone on Al’s team wears blue jerseys and goes “Woo!”
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
that's actually kinda the definition
of a quality start. granted, he didnt get one tonight, but pretty close. you can’t fairly say “quality start or you suck”
Before Edmonds: 24-16, (.600); With Edmonds: 4-3 (.571), DRS: 1
hey I want him off this team tout suite, but got no complaints about tonight's effort
not his fault we’re losing – at least so far. We should be able to get 5 runs easy off Pirates pitching (and defense) every time.
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
I disagree
he creates stress.

Did anyone happen to notice...
back in the top of the 4th inning, 2 outs, after Kosuke had grounded out, he came back into the dugout and the WGN camera cuts to him saying something to D Lee. D Lee looks at him and in a harsh and dismissive way brushes him off and turns as if he doesn’t want to be bothered by a stupid question. I wish I knew what it was all about because Lee looked really irritated by Dome. Maybe it was a language barrier thing. Anyone else notice it?
I didn't think he looked irritated
I thought he looked a little confused, and then he figured out what Dome was talking about, and said “oh, no, that’s not it” or something like that…

Lee, ARam, and Dome were a combined 0-12, but the Cubs still managed to score 6 runs, so yeah, I’d probably hang this one on Marmol.

Kerry Wood – yes, you have to bear down every single game out there. Get your head out of your butt and stop plunking the freakin’ first hitter in the 9th. If you can’t then tell the manager that Marmol should be closing instead.
Lou/Blanco – no way he should have been bunting in the 13th, not with the infield playing in. You need to hit away and drive a hard ground ball with the corners coming in like that.
Theriot – someone please tell our esteemed manager that second basemen need to play second base. Get Cedeno in at SS.
