Wrigley tour
Excuse me if this has already been discussed, but I recently returned to Chicago to visit family for my niece's high school graduation. I purchased tickets for the Memorial Day game only to find out that the graduation party was the day of the Cubbies game. Ugh!
Instead, with Sunday being my only "free time" and the Cubs playing out of town, the wife and I headed to Wrigley to find my brick paver and watch the game from a few of the local establishments. As we searched for the paver (and enjoyed an Old Style at Harry's new place), I inquired about the availability of tickets for a Wrigley Tour. No luck, I was informed - sold out (the Internet told me the same story). I was told that I could "stand by" and see if there were any no shows... 15 minutes later, the wife and I went on the tour of Wrigley. If you've never had the opportunity - DO IT! It was one of the coolest things ever... The things you're allowed access to is unreal. I have a whole new perspective of the Friendly Confines. From the press box to the clubhouse to the dugout - one word "AMAZING!"
Cool side note, aside from all the wedding parties (nice touch for my wife!), we got to see "Challenger", the bald eagle used on Memorial Day's game go through a few practice runs!
Anyone else out there go on the tour?

Oh yeah...
I took my dad on the tour last year in late August for his birthday and it was phenomenal. I particularly enjoyed seeing the clubhouse and dugout. I definitely will never forget seeing Zambrano’s comically large bat collection along with his side-by-side bobbleheads of himself and Michael Barrett in the clubhouse.
My dad’s dad, an enormous Cub fan who once wrote for one of the Chicago papers, was 12 in 1908. My Dad was 12 in 1945. I was 12 in 1984. Needless to say, there’s enormous pressure for me to father a miraculous 12 year old this year.
I definitely recommend this tour to anybody here.

I took the tour
a couple years ago (2005 maybe? What was the last year of the old bleachers?). Anyway, as someone from out of town (northern Minnesota), who gets to go to games only once every other year at best, I really enjoyed it. I also really liked going to the press box (seeing as I work in sports radio), and the dug-out. That was also the first time I’d even been in the bleachers (I then sat in the new bleachers the next year for a game the following year – but was glad to have seen the old bleachers up close)
Anyway, bottom line, I’d highly recomend it.

I have been on the tour a couple of times.
This is simply to echo the posts above—if you are ever in Chicago when the Cubs aren’t home and want to see the ballpark anyway, the tour is an excellent way to do so. Proceeds from ticket sales go to Cubs Care.
To moose97, yes, 2005 was the last year of the old bleachers, so that’s probably when you did the tour.

I was thinking about going on a tour
Now that I hear it’s cool maybe I’ll go for sure.

How much for tickets?

A mere...
$25 per person. As Al mentioned, the proceeds go to Cubs Care. If you can (even though I walked up), I’d suggest getting tickets – if still available – online. If you can’t get them on the website, go to the main entrance and inquire.
I hadn’t been back to Wrigley in 3+ years. WAY too long! I

Thanks
I’ll be in Chicago the last week of June and I’m going to the June 26th game against the O’s. It might be worth going on the tour after that series. I haven’t been to Wrigley since 1989. Almost 20 years. I can’t wait.

If you're going to be in town after that game on the 26th...
... definitely do the tour. And buy the tickets ahead of time as noted above… these tours are very popular and a lot of them sell out.
