Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

Since 1908??

After todays win and June starting tomorrow, I heard a rumor today that I do not know if it is true, and if it is, is very special.

Regardless of the Rays win today against the Sox, we will be having the best record in the major leagues going into June.

I am hearing that the last time the Cubs had the best record in baseball going into June was....... 1908.

If this is true then..... well it is pretty obvious how intriguing and (hopefully) coincidental that is.

I thought

it was 1935 that we had the best record.

This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).

I thought someone mentioned

That they held in like 1948 somewhere near the end of June. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think I remember hearing that…

1977.

The Cubs had the best record in baseball on June 28, 1977.

Yeah, I know.

I looked up 1977. The Cubs were 28-16 at the end of May; the Dodgers had gotten off to an even better start and were 33-15.

But as noted, later in June the Cubs had the best record in the majors. Sigh is right.

According to ESPN

“1908 is the last year the Cubs led the majors in wins at the end of May.”

something about 1908 being the last year the Cubs led the majors in wins entering June today.

We all know about 1977. No one wants to go there.

This year though…I dont know about you guys but I just feel a really special vibe with this club. Being a glass half-full, optimist type, I am going to embrace that feeling and believe this IS the year.

And Chicago, please do it this year. I dont feel like crying again. Or having my heart ripped out of my throat. Last year was sickening.

PLEASE WIN IT ALL!!
