by 1021piestrikesout on May 7, 2008 2:07 PM CDT up reply actions

His batting

is getting better. He needs to play on a sustained basis. He’s making adjustments; you can see them when he plays. He’s not perfect, but he’s going to make a fine centerfielder for the cubs. Sending him down could irretrievably damage his confidence, and won’t give him anything substantive to build on. He destroys AAA pitching.

I’m not saying anything new here.

2008: The year we put it all together.

by drewishdrewid on May 7, 2008 2:09 PM CDT up reply actions

Fair enough

...but can he play everyday for a team that is contending? I’m not sure we can afford that. I suppose it would be easier to place him in the lineup if the rest of it was producing.

I think

it’s the fact that the strong start in April validated to us that the Cubs were going to be a damn good team this year, and now that they’re in a slump we’re all just frustrated that they aren’t performing like we know they are capable of.

Very well put

Been a Cubs fan forever and didnt get this dissapointed cause i was used to them getting stomped on. Now they are just underperforming day after day.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help things turn out for the best…

And…always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the light side of life…

If life seems jolly rotten
There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you’re feeling in the dumps
Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle – that’s the thing.

The Cubs have no starting pitcher

It could be worse, I guess; they could have had Chris Capuano as a constant pitcher in the lineup after his 5 wins. 22 straight losses for his team when he appears? Damn.

On another note, I’m glad I’m not from Milwaukee.

Oh dude, don't wish that.

I know being like “us” might seem incredible - and believe me, it kinda is- but you have to be your own person.

That lesson’s free of charge, bud.

it is meaningless banter. I doubt NitCub was getting upset when we were going back and forth.

It is bothering me

Im not upset, i understand that some people only find fun in this sorta thing.

But i realize there is gonna be some people i cant reply too cause they have nothing important to the actual game to imput.

....someone who repetitively and unnecessarily dwells on every single negative thing they can possibly associate with the team without regard for balance, rationality or the truth maybe?

Again, you can't take a loss like this seriously.

This game was so bad it was funny. Believe me, many of us aren’t quite as good natured when the Cubs blow a lead in the ninth.
