minutes from the Jim Edmonds Fan Club formational meeting
I call this meeting to order.
BAM
Thank you for coming today. We first want to thank Eddie Vedder for opening up our meeting with his unplugged version of "Go Cubs Go," and want to commend him for his donation of proceeds for the purchase of the CD single to Cubs Care. Buy them as you leave today, folks .. take some home and leave them in your Sox fan brother-in-law's Camaro CD player on 10.
Main item of business: We have had significant input from fans about the advent of former Cardinal Jim Edmonds. I personally was not thrilled with his acquisition and unfortunately, not very many others have been. In fact, it has been stated that Jim has gone on record stating that many left field Cub fans have made him feel as if he is still wearing the foul hues of the Red Turds.
After his performance in today's final game with the Rockies, we have seen indications that Jim has definitely made signs of being officially affiliated with the Cubs, with indications like RBI's and competitive AB's. The difficult days Jim has unfortunately experienced appear to be unnecessarily dragged out.
However, definitive proof that Edmunds has arrived in Chicago is that the trixies at Murphy's like him. He therefore must be an OK guy.
And the floor now has received a motion by Francine LeFlesh, Trixie # 2 on the right, that the Cub Nation recognize the Jim Edmonds Fan Club, with minimal participation from the fans being that he be accepted as a bona fide Chicago Cub team member.
I am just the parliamentarian, I just move things along here and take no formal positions. Is there a second?

I’ll be interested to see what Al has to say after today. I’ve mostly listened on radio this weekend, and Santo seems to be praising him whenever I’m listening.
This definitely is a strange, strange thing.
Yeah, it is a strange, strange thing, all right.
Jury’s still out, but after this weekend, maybe he’s got enough left to be a decent platoon partner for Reed Johnson.
Let’s see what happens the next week.
(Nice tongue, Jim.)

Edmonds probably would have signed for the league minimum just for Chicago club-hopping alone.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
Strange but plausible
according to Pat & Ron, our esteemed hitting coach, Gerald Perry, has been spending time with Edmonds going over video from his glory days. They saw something about his stance being more open in the old days so he went back to the old way and evidently is feeling more comfortable. I think this was covered in a Trib article the other day as well – probably here somewhere too.
Anyway, I don’t expect that he’ll go completely back to being the Edmonds of old, but he should be better than the old Edmonds we saw when he first came on board. I can live with that. And I think if he continues this recent trend, this (along with Reed Johnson) should take our CF dilemma down to about a DEFCON 4…
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
fully agreed .. but I'm still partisano enough to lobby for

REED JOHNSON FOR CENTER FIELD ..
Hey, even parliamentarians have their own opinions ..
Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!
Johnson's a nice RH hitting platoon partner.
I wouldn’t want him out there every day, though.

Totally agree.
RJ is a great platoon/bench guy, but overuse him and he could get a lot less likable real fast. As far as I’m concerned, Edmonds bought himself some time this weekend. If he can keep hitting, stay solid defensively and bring that coveted “veteran prescence” to this contending team, so be it.
Nanika Ga Okoru!
Oh, and remember, folks: Alfonso Soriano is NOT batting leadoff. He's batting first.
If the Trixies have spoken...
who are we to say otherwise? Motion is seconded by Trixie #1, who shakes her bootie at Jim in agreement.
All in favor?
The latter..
but could be strippers with names like Francine LeFlesh..:)

Or Bubbles.
To which I would add the following quote from the great Rodney Dangerfield: “What’s a bath without bubbles? Hey, Bubbles, get over here!”

Oh, and remember, folks: Alfonso Soriano is NOT batting leadoff. He's batting first.
I move to immediately dissolve the Jim Edmonds Fan Club (tm)
...liquidate all assets, and buy a puppy. We can all take turns watching him. I call dibs on week 3.
Ugh! On second thought
...scrap the puppy. After looking at that picture again, let’s invest in some deivice designed to help Ol’ Jim keep that tongue of his INSIDE his mouth.
(great, now I’m going to have nightmares about Jim Edmonds’s tongue! Thanks a lot for posting this, cubnational. Now I’m going to have to get me a goat and put a curse on your house.)
the house is curse free ..
besides, in Cleveland, Tennessee, goats are not allowed in the city limits
and I wouldn’t mess with the law down here .. unless you go to church with one of ‘em ..

knowwhatimean?

Is that Roscoe P. Coltrane?

Sure looks like him

I say table the motion until we play a team that's not reeling into the cellar.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, whadya say? The Cubs are going to win today!
Until then, Edmonds might make himself useful.
Motion tabled until the Cubs play Tampa Bay on June 17th (14 games from tonight).

It really is unfortuante that just as he is getting his swing together
we go against two lefties…. I hope He starts tomorrow to try and keep his bat hot.
I believe we go against Sean Estes tomorrow…

Estes is hurt. Baek is going for the Pads

just saw that good call
he seems to be driving the ball better

Great post
Hey I wasn’t that joyed to see the Edmonds signing, however, keep snagging balls in the outfield and hit in the .280’s with some pop, and most importantly win games, you are a Cub Jimbo.
"Have You heard of the Boom on Mizar 5?"
I don't think Im quite up to joining the fan club....
Last week I had said that I had hoped that this experiment would be over soon, so him playing badly didn’t bother me. But after the last few days, if he can help the Cubs I will be an Edmonds fan.
I know one thing .. those eyebrows scare the daylights out of me
They don’t look natural .. earthly .. I hope the trixies run while they can
Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!
Who on earth can notice his eyebrows
...when that gargantuan tongue dominates the center. If you really look at the picture, it looks as if the lines and shading are such that your eyes are purposefully drawn to the tongue. Amazing.
And if you can manage to pull your eyes away from that gapers-delay that is Edmonds’ tongue, you got the Trixies on either side.
Those caterpillar eyebrows are, at best, a third-rate center of interest.
PS I’m still working on that goat thing.
edmonds
...ladies and gentlemen … the FAME BARNACLES!!!! what a great name for a rock band!!!...and let’s keep Edmonds at least until the Cardinal series coming up…
For now
I’ll be that guy at the back of the hall during the meetings, not sure whether he really wants to join, but still wants to hear what is going on.
Must say though, that (at least on TV) the ball is sounding better coming off his bat the last couple of games. Maybe he won’t be a home run hitter as much anymore, but if he can continue to make solid contact and hit a bunch of doubles . . . He is starting to convince me that he could help us reach our ultimate goal.
"Very adroit in the outfield." - Lou, on Dome
Edmonds' bat speed seems better this past weekend than it was before.

I'm not quite ready to come to the meetings, but would you want to take notes for me?
I would like to be kept up to date, and maybe come to one of the later meetings. hehehe

I'm not joining yet
but I will say that I was really surprised at his AB’s this weekend. He showed more power than I expected. The jury is still out for me but I have changed my opinion and maybe he might be worth keeping.
Did anyone see anything on what Edmonds
was laughing about at the end of the game yesterday? It looked like RJ probably said something to him and then he busted out laughing.
just looked like how the last out worked itself out ..
what a fun weekend!
Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!
count me in!
If Jim works out what a pick-up for the Cubs. He has done good defensively and the bat is coming to life. I’d like to see the ol’ guy go out in style helping the Cubbies win it all this year.
