Retro broadcasts in WGN history

Since this seems like an appropriate day, I’m wondering if anyone else remembers the last WGN retro broadcast? I think it was in 1998, and I seem to remember Chip Caray doing a spoof shaving cream advertisement during an inning, as well as more faithful reproductions of 40s-50s-60s-70s graphics progressively throughout the game.

As for today, the throwbacks are nice but I thought the attempts at producing a retro broadcast was rather half-hearted and clumsy.

I just don't get

how these prospects like E-Pat tear it up for months in triple A, and then overnight fly to Chicago and look so lost.

I know about sample size, but E-Pat just looks real bad today.
