It was strange

After we made it 2-1 and held them from scoring any more that one inning – someone posted that it was “ADVANTAGE CUBS” because of our bullpen, even though we were still DOWN a run.

And it actually MADE SENSE TO ME and I had faith in the post. Turned out to be 100% true.

This is such a weird feeling…

Wait a minute... who am I here?

today's game was awesome.

If Jimmy Baseball can regain his previous form…. wow this lineup is pretty unbelieveable.

Our bullpen is awesome. I can’t wait for howry to get his poop in a group and start playing like he did at the end of last year. Great to see Cotts step up. If we can get howry, cotts, and eyre to play at thier ability… with woody and marmol…. best bullpen in baseball.

i love this team.

And to think

all Gerald Perry had to do was get Edmonds to widen his stance.

Eighth Inning

With the ninth-inning homer by Edmonds to send it in to extras, and the dramatic 11th inning, it’s easy to overlook how key the bullpen’s job in the top of the 8th was. Bases loaded, nobody out. Eyre with two big strikeouts and Marmol with another.

And then of course good jobs by Cotts and especially Wood, who is looking like the closer we all dreamed he would be.

Great job, bullpen.

Eyre and Cotts Both Used

Hey, when did Lou realize he had two LHP’s in the pen? The sample size is still small, but the ERA’s of those two can’t be any lower. They were both used for multiple outs. I am thrilled to see the bullpen used like this. Marmol got a couple of outs. Wood pitched 2 very good innings for the win. Of course, it was not a save situation, but I love seeing closers pitch more than one inning in a game.

bullpen

A strength of this team by far which is a nice strength to have.

A tip of the hat to Ryan Dempster

who gave the RP crew a day off yesterday.

Yup

Today probably doesn’t go like that if Demp didn’t give them all a break yesterday.

In my opinion

This is one of the best bullpens in the majors.

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
