Hey, Len just mentioned the Cubs have no hits
No hitter? He’s got a no-hitter? And a shutout?

RF DeRosa makes a nice running catch on Evan Longoria Parker's liner to the corner. 1 out.
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
This is an interesting game. What does a manager do with Kazmir?
Kazmir is pitching a no-hitter yet he has already had 80 pitches after 4 innings. What does a manager do in 4 more innings, if his pace remains the same? Can he realistically go for 160 pitches after 8 innings? Yet, can a manager justify taking out his pitcher if he is pitching a no-hitter.
With Kazmir's injury history, no way you let him go over 110.
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
He could just this once
That is if he has a no-hitter.

Nice pitchers duel. Now let's get Kazmir's pitch count up to 100 and get into their bullpen.
Just 20 more pitches to 100, and 30 more to 110.
He would only go 110 if he has a no-hitter going
Otherwise…I don’t think so.
That's a really lame name.

He’s hit 100+ pitches 5 times(110+ once), and the other 3 times were at least 90.

Yeah, SIX TIMES
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
One is pretty cute.
It shows Lou and Ozzie on a tandem bike. Ozzie is peddling his ass off and Lou is behind him with his feet up just relaxing.
Yeah kind of.
Kenny Williams said last night he doesn’t think it’s fair that they have to play the Cubs twice. Boo hoo!!
Kenny Williams is an asshat.

he's got his boss to blame
Reinsdorf insisted on that a few years ago when they first started talking about rotating the divisions. didn’t want to lose the only series of the year where the Sox drew fans

when will the Cards
realize how mediocre they are and fall to their eventual .500?

Won't be happening this year.
They have a good team, man. Doubtful they’re act like the ‘05 Nationals and go sub-.500 for the second half.

No they dont.
I really dont think they have a good team. I expect them to have a sub .500 second half.

They have a middling team held together with bailing wire and twine.
Maybe they won’t tank, but I don’t see how you can rule it out.
agreed. On paper they're
“marginal” at best!
""At the end of the day, boys, you don't tell me how rough the water is, you bring in the ship." -- Steve Stone
Well, they're getting back one starting pitcher soon
Matt Clement might come back to be effective, too. But I’m speculating about that.
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
Yes, yes. Maybe one of their injured pitchers comes back and is good.
Maybe one of their Carnival Of Second Basemen will decide not to suck like a Hoover. Maybe they’ll all ride to the postseason on the backs of luxurious pink unicorns.
Did you not see the word "speculating"?
Not even talking about Clement, how about Wainwright and Mulder coming after the break? I’d expect a better response than that, cwyers. You seldom have posts that aren’t informative.
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
Mark Mulder is about as likely to pitch in the majors this month as I am.
As for Wainwright, he just got on the DL.
There’s a lot and ifs and buts to the Cardinals this season; they could hold it together, but I don’t think that it’s wildly more likely than them NOT holding it together.
Once midseason comes around
They will falter. The pitching will soon be figured out and Ludwick will struggle.
I can't believe it took this long
I expected hourly updates on the ‘blog about his trip from home to the ballpark
Good grief.
Just when I thought I couldn’t be any more annoyed with Bob Brenly.

Curious: What annoys you? The Theriot praise or is there more?
Alan Trammell: Assistant (to the) Manager
That, too.
It’s one thing for an announcer to be critical of player, but that was too far.

i do agree w/ the throwing a dart
at the dugout and hitting 24 guys who play a better LF…
however you’d need 2 darts ‘cause you gots to throw at the bullpen too yo
(dunno why i’m talking like that…)
The Theriot praise
the constant apologetics whenever a catcher blatantly screws up a ply, the kvetching about balls fouled off the toes, his anecdotes about his son hitting with a wood bat….his act has grown really tiresome for me

Sorry, I had a flashback where ESPN was doing the Cubs broadcast again.
Is Rajon Rondo playing in it?
