buying tix on game day

Hi everybody,

I think this was discussed a few weeks ago, and it probably has been discussed a few other times over the years. Seems to me you can buy tickets at face value at the Wrigley box office on the day of the game -- maybe very early in the morning?

As you can probably guess, I'm wondering if there's any chance I can get to the White Sox series without paying a ridiculous markup. If it meant standing in line at 5 a.m., I'd be OK with that.

Any advice, input or insight would be much appreciated.

Thats a big risk

Just because not many people are going to ‘not use’ their tickets. Most people if they cant go are going to sell them for some bullshit bad karma price or give them to friends in family. 5am is a risk but worth it if youre willing to.

Also, you could call 800TheCubs right at 8am and try and get lucky. Forget Stubhub and their bull. The Cubs are using StubHub to sell tickets for 700-800 dollars in section 19. I hate the tribune, cant wait for a new, possibly honest, owner

well honest enough

to keep it out of the papers, I guess thats more sneaky than honest.

Please everyone, I urge you not to buy from StubHub.

I agree with you

on the Stub-Hub deal. That’s the Cubs way to get in on the scalping market. Some years back, Bill Wirtz disallowed anyone bringing peanuts into the UC so that he could secure all that revenue himself. I think this is along those lines.

The Stub-Hub deal is with MLB

All teams use Stub-Hub as their “official” re-seller

Right.

StubHub isn’t the problem. The problem is the outfit called Wrigley Field Premium Ticket Services, the shell company the Cubs set up pretending they don’t own.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens when the team gets sold. Does WFPTS get sold to the same entity?

IF....

you are unlucky early in the morning you can go to the ticket window right at gametime. They release unused tickets from players and guests. It seems like it’s hopeless but you can get lucky.

when asked about his performance against the Reds - Lieber said the following
"Well obviously I made some bad pitches today, left to many over the plate and they got good wood on the ball. The only good thing was that I was able to get back into the clubhouse earlier then I planned so I could eat."

Standing Room

why don’t you just get standing room tickets they have a fine view and a cheap price

by oeosoto on Jun 19, 2008 3:04 PM CDT reply actions

I SERIOUSLY doubt there will be any tickets

Day of game for this except scattered singles or obstructed view
Now I hear it might rain and that COULD change things but i would
NOT count on anything at the box office for this series

There may be singles, that's all.

This is a high-demand series and not just for fans—players usually want extras for this series because both teams are from Chicago. Worth trying, anyway.

I have two extra bleacher seats for Sunday night.....

two friends just backed out. I’ll find people before the game who are interested – don’t think I’ll have a problem finding a taker.
