Season 6 started in January of 2007, you must be referring to the season that was supposed to start this calendar year, Season 7

Yep..
I agree Season 6 was weak compared to the previous seasons, but I sure wouldn’t say it was the worst show ever…

The color commentary guy just said that some of the players were probably eating pizza right now during intermission.

Inside Wrigley
I’m usually not one to shop, but I needed to get some memorbilia since this is a magical season. I went to my first game this year after moving to Decatur from Florida, and that was my 4th. I saw the gnome and was like “how much for the Wizard”. She was like uh its a gnome. “I DONT CARE” i exlaimed!! And she put it in a box and sold it to me. I don’t know if they have any more, but it was at the vendor near the bleacher entrance.
haha!
“How much for the wizard?” hehe. : )
Thanks for the tip! I don’t have any bleacher tix yet, but maybe I can sweet talk someone into picking one up for me.
Now, the serious question: What did you name it?

If I can bitch about DirectTV
for a minute. My dad (87 yrs young) lives in the Palm Springs, CA area and he LOVES the Cubs. This game is blacked out tonight (he has the baseball package), though i am getting it in the LA area. So if I am getting this straight, MLB expects a bunch of retired people in the desert to drive an hour to San Diego to see the Padres play? How pathetic!!
My dad was really looking forward to the game tonight.
THIS IS OUR CENTURY!!
I really hate the way they determine
blackouts for areas based on the metro center. Living two hours away or something would seriously suck. :(
Does he not get the San Diego Feed
I am here near STL…and i can get both the Chicago and SD Feed with Direct Tv Baseball Package

I've started
Calling Edmonds “Bif Edmonds” so I can pretend its not the same guy who played for the Cards and still pull for him. Just makes him easier to watch.
Exactly
It gives Edmonds a new name, while still digging at him a little for playing in St. Louis. However, I put Edmonds in the name instead of Tannen so others would know what I was talking about.
I think you were the one who came up with Bif Tannen though, so you deserve the credit.

I don’t like about ESPN is it is harder to find out how many pitches a pitcher has thrown unless he is on the mound at that exact moment (so you can’t find out how many pitches when a pitcher is on deck). Have to use Gameday for that.

Jeter is probably better defensively than A-Ram.
The difference is, nobody ever mistaked A-Ram for a shortstop.
I'm completely unimpressed with Jeter as a defender.
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
I like his arm strength
Not terribly sold on his range.
Of course, I’m just typing this based on recollection, not stats, so I won’t be surprised if someone puts some numbers up here that make me look bad.
I'd say you're right.
His range is what makes him a bad shortstop – and third basemen don’t really need the range.
Of course, Jeter’s OTHER liability on defense are his mental mistakes – Jeter has a habit of covering the wrong base on bunt plays, for example. That’s the amazingly funny part about this for me.
The mental stuff
Is a little surprising to me. However, I might think that simply because I’ve had it beat into my head that it was incredibly “smart” of him to be in place to make that relay flip against the A’s in the playoffs a few years ago.
Regardless, most can agree that his feet are painfully slow at this point in his career.
I'll admit that I watch the Yankees about five times a year...
...and so I’m not the best positioned to know these things, but I’ve heard from some Yankees fans that Jeter makes some incredible mistakes – throwing over to the wrong base, covering the wrong base – at times. And the announcers will attempt to cover for him in often hillarious ways.
FJM has also relayed similar anecdotes
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
Completely about the announcers
Joe Buck had better be getting a cut from Jeter’s agent.
But based on seeing him, the dude had an absolute cannon. Again, no stats, just what it looks like to me.
Sorry, that should have said, "Completely agree"
Typing is hard.
Which basically means you know something about defense.
That said, a miserable defensive shortstop normally isn’t as bad over at third – Jeter’s hands and arm aren’t the problem, so he could probably play third (although at this point if you were to move him, you’d want to move him to the outfield).
So why don't the Yankees move Jeter to 3B and A-Rod to SS?
Seems like that might make more than a bit of sense.
"I've always felt that starting pitching is the most important part of the rotation." - Joe Morgan, Sunday Night Baseball 8-12-07
And
NYC’s collective brains just exploded. That will never happen. I can hear the kerfluffle from here.

When they got him from the Rangers, sure.
A-Rod has bulked up considerably since then to play third, and so I don’t think he could be the Gold Glover he was back in his prime anymore. And even though he played the position very well, it’s a bit late in his career to be moving him up the defensive spectrum.
Ah.

Jeter still hits well enough that he's still an average (or slightly above)...
...total player at shortstop. So I don’t know that they need to move him yet, although if they had any other credible options at short they probably should. Honestly I have no idea what the Yankees will do.
