Appreciation of the Intergrity of BCB, and C.C. talk?
About 10 minutes ago, I posted an immediate reaction that I had to something listed on the White Sox blogging site, and rightfully so it was deleted by Al. I had a knee jerk reaction that turned me into a hypocrite, and for that I apologize.
BCB is about the Cubs, both love and hate. This website teaches me more and more everyday about Cubs nation, and provides intellectual arguments about our beloved Cubbies. I want to put this out there: Don't do what I did a minute ago and bash a team and their fans based off of what they are doing or saying about us. We are CUBS FANS first, not SOX BASHERS or CARDINAL BASHERS. That comes after being a strong, loyal, blue hearted fan of our beloved Chicago Cubs. So thank you Al, for keeping that integrity and respect on the BCB website. We have enough debate with our Theriot, Soriano and trade rumors posts that keep us busy everyday we come to BCB.
On a separate note, can you imagine C.C. Sabathia and Big Z back to back in our rotation? Imagine having to face those two guys in a playoff series, followed by Dempster. Who would go to the bullpen? I realize this is all speculation, but IF, and only IF, this magical 1 2 punch were to occur, what exactly would our bullpen look like IF and WHEN we make the playoffs. Demote Marquis and Lilly to the bullpen and push out who? WOW, this is a magical possibility that would push the Cubs a little closer to ending that drought. If not C.C., what other pitchers should we consider signing to put a good grasp on the NL.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation, Bleed Cubbie Blue, or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief. FanPost opinions are, however, valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Nice recoop
I thought your first post was hypotcritcal but knew you were over there reading and had that knee jerk reaction.
My reaction to it was a smile, because it was them mostly venting which is what you were doing, but Im glad the Cubs won and honestly that is what matters to me baseballwise.

Oh yea
What a great weekend huh? Nothing like ultimate bragging rights or a sweep over any team. Hopefully we could ride a streak through next weekend!

BCB Integrity and CC
I always like to focus more on my love for the Cubs rather than hatred for other clubs. Most people on this site are like that. Yes, I hate the Cardinals. I’m more concerned about the Cubs winning than the Cardinals losing. The STL fans I’m around are more interested in the Cards winning than the Cubs losing.
I don’t have any CC rumors. I just know the Cubs are going to have to give up a lot to get Sabathia. That statement actually has validity.

That is how I always praised myself on as a Cubs fan
I always told sox fans they are cubs-bashers first and I would say I am the opposite. I moved to Bloomington, IN from the southside and have had not to deal with the whole situation outside of my own friends and family, that being said I did kind of loose it when reading the sox site, it brought back bad old memories, but for that I shouldn’t have displayed on a post. I do hate the Cardinals, but more so because they are in our division, but definitely am a Cubs fan first and always will be.

Phil Rogers (I know, I know)
But anyway, Rogers had THIS to say in an article today on ChicagoSports.com. He basically says that Hendry will pursue pitching — C.C. Sabathia and Rich Harden top the list — than another left-handed bat. He then goes on to say that Olney thinks the top 2 for CC would be the Cubs and Brewers and that a bidding war could ensue. it would be interesting to have one of those guys. I’d rather have Sabathia but would take harden as well.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. ~Voltaire

Id love either one, but I just dont see it happening
They dont have enough top level prospects to compete with the other suitors, but man that CC homerun the otherday was amazing huh?

In regards to CC
Knowing that The Brewers are interested in him, I see Cubs going all out. If CC were going to an AL team it wouldn’t be as big of a deal. However, Sheets and CC could be tougher than Zambrano and Dempster…

Good point
Zambrano in my mind has the edge over CC, but Sheets in the end will have the edge on dempster

Problem is that if the Brewers decide to go all out
they have the better top line prospects. Look at their AA roster. RF LaPorta and 3B Gamel are both slugging over .600 and SS Escobar is hitting over .320. Obviously, the Brewers wouldn’t offer all of those but either Gamel or Escobar would be a top prospect at a tough position and something the Cubs couldn’t match.

the one advantage I see the Cubs having over the Brewers
is the overall desire to win right now. Therefore, I think hendry may be more willing to part with a LOT to get what ths team needs. I am all for that too.
Calm down.

Yep...
Though I don’t think CC Sabathia is the real target of the Cubs or Brewers. Rather I think the target (s) includes Rich Harden, AJ Burnett, Derek Lowe and Tim Hudson. If Sabathia goes anywhere (which I’m not convinced he will) then it will be the Yankees. They can offer up Philip Hughes and Jose Tabata in a package.
GET Rich Harden !!! 10 starts, 4-0, 59 IP, 72 Ks, 2.44 ERA !!!

Just because you want Harden
doesn’t mean the Cubs are targeting him. Sorry to burst your bubble. I can’t imagine a team 7 games over .500 being a seller. Give it up.

Tim Hudson?
Why on earth would the Braves make Hudson available?
He’s under club control for a very reasonable amount through the end of next sesaon. They are contending this year. I have never once seen him mentioned in any trade talk.

LaPorta
Is supposed to be just about as good a prospect as Braun was a year ago, so in a way if the brewers rent CC and lose LaPorta, the Cubs might win, albeit indirectly, in the long term…..i dont think CC would be the difference maker for the milwaukee that he would be for Chicago

i don't get
the idea of being a fan of your team consequently meaning you dislike or even “hate” another team
i thought it just meant you were a fan of your team.
Personally, I don’t hate or dislike any other teams. I enjoy watching the Brewers play and am amazed by the smoke and mirrors show that is LaRussa and Duncan, but maybe its because I grew up as a displaced Cubs fan in FLA who didn’t have to worry about getting into banter with other fan bases, who knows.
As for CC… i could only dream. I’m usually one who preaches patience with the farm system and continuing to develop, but I believe firmly he’s the ONE and only difference maker i’d unload the system for. He’s a legit #1 and puts Zambrano into the more appropriate #2 slot (for dominant WS teams) and slides everyone else down. Plus if we could somehow cough up the money to sign him… oh man…
i want CC badly

DONT LOOK NOW!
But Oakland is 7 games over, 4.5 games back in the ALW and only 3 back in the Wild Card. Oakland might just be a buyer with that system full of prospects….
Therefore, I do not think that either CC or Harden will be traded until LATE july if at all.

Bah...the Wild Card doesn't count!
It’s unfair.

CC could be available sooner
The Indians need to maximize his value, and trading him soon is the best way to do that. It’s pretty obvious they aren’t going to contend this year, and can get something back for him than compensation picks so long as they do it soon.
Agreed on Harden, if he goes anywhere it won’t be until the deadline. And I agree that the A’s could be buyers, not sellers, given their odds in a weak division.

Oakland is loaded with quality starting pitching in the system
And Billy Beane has continued to say he is, once again, building for the future. I believe strongly that Rich Harden will be traded before July 31st. Hopefully he doesn’t wind up with the Yankees, Cardinals or Brewers. Hopefully Jim Hendry is front and center to acquire him.

Edmonds and pitching
I know you’re probably thinking ok she’s finally reached her absolute breaking point she’s using Edmonds and pitching in the same line,
But maybe the greatest part of a continued contribution from Edmonds is not needing a CF in July and Hendry can put all his eggs in the pitching basket.
Go Cubs

I'm pretty sure nobody was thinking that KOW.
But, I agree, that if Edmonds continues to hit like this, we’ll then only be in need of a starting pitcher and a new SS, instead of a new outfielder as well.
