More ways to relive the weekend!

The longest line any of us has ever seen
The bleacher line at 4:45 pm Sunday. This line began at Sheffield & Waveland, down to Addison, then west on Addison to this point, halfway to Clark. The line on the Waveland side was just as long.

I know, its just crazy though

Honestly, since they started getting crazy about searching everything and such it probably took them forever to get in.

Shheeees, I love sitting in the bleachers but this is why I normally buy them for low priority games.

Thank you

Al thanks for the tip you posted a few weeks ago about the extra security in the bleacher area. We arrived early and instead of my usual purse which is a humongous bag I carried my small party purse with the essentials. I felt a little silly carrying a party purse to a baseball game but didn’t have to go through a ton of extra stuff.

I should say I think it was you. Someone posted it a few weeks ago.

Hey Al (or whomever was in the bleachers last night)...

...how did YOU get into the bleachers? Wait in line like everyone else or are there other methods? Living out of state n all, the only few times I’ve made it to Wrigley, I’ve never had the opportunity to sit in the bleachers…

Al will correct me if I'm wrong...

... but there are three entrances. Two at the corner of Waveland & Sheffield and another along Waveland just for Season Ticket holders. They get to go in a bit earlier (not sure how much earlier) and grab seats.

One thing since the redesign that I do, is once I get in I head towards the side staircases beyond the lower level concession stands. Take that up and get the needed seats. People spend too much time going thru the main way up that it all backs up.

Yesterday for instance I got in the Waveland line back past the player’s lot, almost on Clark. And we had no problems finding seats in the Left Field bleachers once we got in. We were the only ones using the other staircase, I was very surprised.

Good idea on the stairs.

Yes, there is a season ticket holder entrance, they allow us a 5-minute head start. The idea is, we have bought a season ticket (full season). Every other season ticket holder gets the same seat for every game. The head start is so that we can choose our own seats.

For what we pay, that’s not an unreasonable perk.

How many bleacher season tickets are there approximately and how long have you had them?

(or you knew this to begin with and your comment has a large dosage of sarcasm that I am not reading) but the perfect spacing is due to the fact that those flags are on the electronic display board underneath the scoreboard.

As always great pictures.

The weekend was a blast, Every game it’s building this is a very special season on the north side of Chicago.

A lot of dramatic wins, a team full of guys you can’t help but like and not just because they’re Cubs, a manager who knows his butt from a hole in the ground a GM we can feel confident will swing a trade when needed and a rocking atmosphere at the Friendly Confines.

Time to bring back Pie with the Cubs cruising and a nice lead in the NL Central? I say play him for 20-25 games to at least get in the groove. After all, he is our CF of the future!

Not yet...let him continue to build on consistency and confidence

And besides, Patterson deserves a chance to play LF. Don’t worry, Pie will be back by September. He will get some at bats and will have his chance to show whether or not he can handle ML pitching. He is still is in the Cubs plans to become the CF, but he will get his best chance next year.

If not, then the Cubs might have to see what Colvin has to offer, but so far he has been struggling mightily. He has poor plate discipline and needs to learn to take more walks. Lets just say he is in the same boat as Pie, but has a lot more to learn about hitting than Pie.

It's an offday, so let's change the subject a little bit.

I don’t know if it’s okay to talk about other sports on this site, but I thought it’d be okay since it is an off day. Who do you guys have the bulls picking with the number 1 pick? I personally think we should pick the hometown favorite and select rose, as we already have two very good power forwards in Drew Gooden and Tyrus thomas. I think the bulls should try to make a very serious attempt at moving Heinrich, luol deng, and maybe even ben gordon. What do you guys think? The Draft is this thursday and I’m interested to see what Paxton will do.

The dead Brian Roberts trade

Just dug up information (www.mlbtraderumors.com) on who Hendry offered for the all-star 2B Roberts. Apparently, he offered Veal, Cedeno, and Gallagher. Wow, Gallagher for Roberts let along would have been a rip off. Haha, as the old saying goes “the best trades are ones you don’t do…” or something like that.

However, I am not downplaying Roberts to be a mediocre 2B. Actually, here are his stats amongst all the 2B…

4th in OPS
5th in Runs scored,
1st in SB,
1st in doubles
1st in Walks

(I got these stats from a post on www.mlbtraderumors.com and apparently they are correct).

I didn’t realize this, but apparently the Indians are not out of the race yet. It’s only June and the Indians are only 6.5 games back of the Sox. I think it’s safe to say that Sabathia is not officially available on the market yet.

Interesting thought AL

I saw Baseball Tonight last night and Buck Showalter was talking about Texeiria being a free agent after this year and the size of the contract he would command.

Showalter’s point was that there were certain players the Union singled out every year to set the standard for future contracts.

Showalter seemed to think that Tex would get a larger contract because of this.

For you gearheads

I use a digital SLR camera for the game photos. Sorry to disappoint the techies out there, but I use an older generation Nikon D70S. It ain’t state of the art, but it has been troublefree. Same goes for the lens. It is an older generation Nikkor 70-300mm AF lens. For anyone in the market, I would definitely recommend the newer AF-S version ot this lens. It focuses much faster than mine. It is a carryover from the 35mm film era, where I am from.

For the non-telephoto “grab” shots, I use an older Fuji E900 camera. It was unusual in that it was a compact camera that featured many manual controls. It also has a relatively short shutter lag delay, compared to other compact cameras. Unfortunately, Fuji never replaced it Consumer wanted smaller cameras, and didn’t care about having manual controls. It does take amazing photos, if you know how to use it.
