Pie to Mesa

I am a little perplexed by this.

Article on Cubs.com is saying that Pie is being sent to Mesa because of a hand injury.  I don't remember them sending Marshall or Hill (prior to this week) to Mesa when they were injured.  What is different about this situation?  I am even more confused since he has been showing lately that his hitting is starting to turn the corner.

Was he slipping into old habits and are they trying to reboot him again?  Any ideas

Well...

I would assume the Cubs believe they have the best medical and rehabilitation resources at Mesa, hence why they are shipping a key prospect with apparent injury there.

GET Rich Harden !!! 10 starts, 4-0, 59 IP, 72 Ks, 2.44 ERA !!!

Agreed.

The article doesn’t say he’s going to PLAY there, just that he’s going to be given a MRI there.

Article Says he is going to rehab there as well

Just don’t remember them doing that with other potential key big club players (i.e. Marshall, Hill) this year

Every situation is different.

But the Cubs minor league headquarters are in Mesa. That’s where the best facilities are.

Similar to Dontrelle Willis

He was sent to Lakeland because the Tiger’s ST headquarters are there, and they control the whole environment there.

And because the Tiger's AAA team

is very close to Detroit (Toledo Mudhens).

Word from my Tiger’s friends here in Michigan is that they did not want Dontrelle trying to correct his problems so near the Detroit media.

They found

four and twenty blackbirds baked inside of him.

I always thought that was weird.

My guess is that when Patterson hit that HR he hit his locker with is throwing hand

I bet he has a lot of anger and frustration right now.

Seeing as Pie's hitting .400 over the last 10 days,

it’s likely got nothing to do with mechanics, and everything to do with, as many here have said, the Cubs having much better medical facilities in Mesa than they do in Iowa. Not to mention that recent unfortunate events in Iowa may very well have done significant damage to the facilities there.

Technically, he DOES need them to work with him...

as he has a hand injury. ;)

But if we’re discussing performance, then I’d agree with you – he’s been showing signs that he is turning the corner again after that horrendous start to AAA this year.
